    Hi,

Been trading around 6 months, keen to apply for FCA asap, wondering if anyone could help answer a few questions.

I believe Limited Permission is the way to go but the application fee is £100 for under 50k of consumer credit, £500 for over. Is this 50k annually? And this is 50k sold in credit NOT profit made?

Also are there any restrictions on how long you have been trading? Unsure if you had to provide a years worth of books etc?

Any other tips / advice / "idiots guide to" would be great as looking to apply myself to save on costs!

    Thanks!

Close brothers help well with this kind of thing

I usually work to Autotraders suggested profit margin of £150 / £200 per car. Anything else is just greedy to be honest.

As much as that?! Damn I'm doing it wrong. :(

    I love the place.

NO physical auction I've ever been to presents so many opportunities if you are not there to get a specific car or a specific model.

Just don't go and try to collect a car on the same day. The key office will make you wait for hours.

I've had some bargains up there over the years for sure but it's a long day and got harder everytime we went so gave up. We want the cars the same day as well to drive back!

Same for me. Must be three years now since I actually went. Blackbushe is my nearest BCA also.

I have been to my local dumping ground (SWVA Poole) a couple of times for a laugh. Hasn’t changed a bit since I was a kid. Same old faces.

Just have to embrace online buying. On the whole it works out fine. Can’t think of anything that’s particularly bit me on the arse that wouldn’t have had I attended. I do limit my exposure though

Rough with the smooth. Quite often descriptions have been better. Occasionally a bit worse.

You get the odd issue but mostly not worth moaning about I find

Now DA descriptions- that’s another matter......as per the other thread.

Hows every one doing this Bank Hols? Anyone opening today?

Friday and Saturday sold one each day. . Ghost Town yesterday apparently. Not holding out much hope for today but you never know. Glad I’m not in.

I actually buy the leftover B.I.N cars across BCA/manheim and Aston B. Get some good cars at good prices.

LOL, I remember them days, when I was down south .............

I never had much trouble with Suspension or Brake Bolts etc even on very old Cars, nowadays it's a daily occurrence, for which of course I add extra onto the Invoice for "Seized xyx etc" :D

Old fords and mazdas must literally dissolve up there

They seem to be following the Ryanair model more and more where they have so many thousands of transactions that even a couple of quid "added value" here and there really add to their bottom line.

Bought a car online from BCA Wolverhampton, yes it might've been slightly cheaper than Blackbushe but my immediate added costs were £44 Live on Line fee and £95 delivery charge. The car was paid on TUE and should arrive here next WED! 8 days! I can buy from Blackbushe in person and sell it in 8 days!

Buying in person and collecting in person really has it's advantages sometimes.

    5 working days for delivery

Just another way of making more money they dont need, sound familiar?!

I rarely buy out of BCA anymore most of the cars are shite.

I stopped retailing older fords with low miles we seem to get a lot of them for what ever reason, looking at our comeback stats these always bight us in the backside coil spings snapping for the fun, thrust bearings start to howl electric window regs the list goes on, we now just punt them on to another trader.

Same here fiestas like leaking coolant everywhere as well.

Hi mate, marketplace is free.... no point signing up to motors just for market place.

Car gurus has actually been producing leads for me and they are free

Yes I know its free but I simply dont have the time to list them all on there, I'm trying motors again because they also feed to alot of websites as well as stated above not just for facebook.

I feed to car gurus free listings as well and sold one last friday on there.

At the moment AT is working well for me.
