  1. it is weird i think sometimes 'us' motortrade get massive hangups on 'base' spec cars ... there are so many people who want , wait for it 'manual wiindows' , cloth seats , no alloys ...... they just want value ! and to be honest I've had a few 'low spec cars and sold them reasonable quick ' because there buyers were wanting 'no spec' #Bizarre !!

Goes with colours too! Bought a BMW 320d coupe last week or so , all the guys next door laughing at me, its GREEN !! Who's going to buy that ha, ha ha - 1st ad - customers BUYS it because its 'different'  whos laughing now :)

I had a Lime Green Citroen C2 with green seats and only 31k miles and everyone said you won't sell that. Gone in a week, old boy bought it for the colour!

Different cars in weird colours sell FACT.

What are the options a car has to have before you even consider stocking it?

I'm thinking BMWs and Mercedes C-Classes with plastic wheel trims and cloth upholstery. Would you ever stock a car like this that lacks desirable equipment?

For me they should really have the two A's. Alloys and Aircon! A convertible must have leather etc.

  2. Had bit of a bidding battle with someone the other day a on BMW convertible - I won the bid. However upon collecting the car one of the tyres was slashed in the car park. Was it my rival bidder? Who knows, no other cars were damaged so it seems a bit of a coincidence! Any else had problems like this?

  3. One of the main reason I stopped using ATM, your basicly dealing with a bunch of people who don't care about your business. It almost became a 'Retail' site a few years ago and there are no safegaurds in place to protect the buyer.

Sometimes the amount of unprofessional service in the motor trade amazes me and lots seem to be from Main Dealers. I know you don't like auctions Umesh (I'm sure you have said before but correct me if i'm wrong) but aleast you know what your getting as most have condition reports etc etc and you know if its yours or not.

    Amen to that!

  4. How will they know, filters are inside a metal casing and MOT testers are not allowed to dismantle a vehicle. I had a 206 done a few months back, the filter was removed but the casing was still present so nobody would know. The DPF file on the ECU was removed so only if a Diagnostic machine was plugged in would you know it wasnt working and even then the filter could still be present

  5. I've only ever sold one cat d which had paint stipper damage and had been re-sprayed, the chap that bought it couldnt give  a monkeys as the lower than average screen price was already a deal maker. This kind of damage would not deter me selling a car and most people would be OK about it.
