I'm currently in the middle of a claim for a slipping clutch They sent an engineer out this morning who took 10 seconds to confirm it is indeed ****** He's now submitting his report to bca so it's a waiting game now I guess, this is the first claim I've ever made so unsure how smoothly it will go!
-
Have any of you guys purchased from the bca owned ukcgr wbac section? I've just bought 5, all with pretty much terminal issues which would have been picked up when wbac valued them, and the loss is going to cripple my business Unfortunately all sold as seen so no come back, but they must have known, it just seems morally wrong, imagine if we did something like that, we'd be in court, fined & shut down, possibly locked up with the way things are now!
-
I've never picked 1 up from bca that I haven't had to re-valet, they look ok when they're moving through the auction hall but they aren't valeted anywhere near a retail standard, the polish guys at my local esso do a better job for a tenner! in fact I do a better job and the only training I've had is the mrs making me clean the house!
-
Thanks Umesh, I appreciate that. Rosemotors, all the cash I pay myself gets squandered by the wife so I didn't even have that pleasure!
-
You may be right, the newer models do look much better, it's no wonder they go through the block for penny's, I imagine the majority of experienced dealers have worked out they can be tricky to shift, with me still being in my 1st year I'm still learning what sells well and what sits on the tarmac.

8 days in to the month, 1 phone call, and sold 0. Any mentor's on here fancy giving me some tips on how to be a "successful" car dealer? my kids need to eat I must be doing something very wrong!
-
Does anybody else have trouble shifting meriva's? I have 1 on a 57 plate, 1.6 petrol, 83k, 2 previous owners, Design model with exterior pack so not basic. I've had it for 4 months and the only interest I've had on it was 1 chap who said he's not keen on them, and he couldn't really tell me what it is about them he doesn't like. I'm really getting sick looking at it.
-
I didn't get offered a free trial either! and haven't sold a single car from it since I signed up. Don't think I've been hacked yet
-
And it's us dealers that are given a general reputation as being "dodgy"

Had more than my usual share of timewasters this month but ok overall. A car we sold last week pulled up outside the office today, to my delight he was just calling in to say how happy he is with the car. A nice change from the usual "A bulbs blown, what ya gonna do bout it m8" or "I can't find my favourite radio station"

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Evening all. I had a vehicle come in to stock this afternoon from auction and the v5 is on disabled. What is the process for changing it back over as a dealer?
-
I source most of my stock from a well known auction house and the odd private seller, but even as a dealer fee's are excessive and quality isn't all that good, and most private sellers want retail money so keeping a forecourt stocked off the back of that avenue is pretty hard, plus with just me and the wife running the place I can't be on the road all the time. I know that we all have the same issue, and I'm sure those of you who have found a good avenue will be reluctant to share it but the slightest point of a finger will help! I've exhausted my local main dealers who all have the "send to auction" policy, which is fair enough as it obviously works for them. I did find 1 but they already have a local dealer they sell too and are reluctant to sell to another who they have never heard of, again fair enough. I'm no longer knocking on doors, I'm banging and kicking and they still don't open.
-
I don't think I've changed the clocks in my house yet, let alone the stock!
-
I usually send to auction or sell as spares/repairs and invoice as unroadworthy but I've just started retailing them to see if it's worth it... 1st p/x sold on Sunday, 02 Mini with 122k, buyer wants it showroom fresh for collection on Friday, you are right, the cheaper the car, the more fussy the customer.
-
That's what I thought! not sure I believe he bought it back either, was probably returned under the soga

I have actually jumped the Autotrader ship....... who's following me?

Is exchange and mart any good these days? -
Simon, you need to consider the following. Trade insurance (most policy's cost £1k + Trade plates (unless you are planning on taxing each car) If you are working from home you will need planning permission (it won't be long before your neighbours report you) If you are going to be working from premises you need to work out your in going costs. warranties (whether you will use a 3rd party or be covering the warranties yourself) Prep (repairs/mot's/bodywork) unless you know a couple of tradesman or can put lots of work their way you will most likely be paying retail prices. With lot's of overheads, and a lot of time and money going into a car to bring it to retail standards it's not as cut and dried as just buying it for 500, selling it for 850 and bingo 350 profit, unless your lucky, and don't forget the customers who will try and beat you down with a big stick. 5K is a small budget for this game, not impossible but hard, if you get a lemon you won't have much to fall back on. It might sound like I'm trying to put you off but after considering the above if you feel it's viable for you then I wish you every success, we all have to start somewhere. Kind Regards.

I've stopped using AT now for the simple reason I've only had 1 enquiry in 3 months! All my sales have come through Ebay and walk-ins I did email motors the other day but haven't had a reply. It's hard to work out where potential customers are looking. -
Warranty Companies " Who do you choose " total loss of faith

I'm currently with Warrantywise and had my first claim 2 days ago for a wheel bearing! They approved it without any problems, however this was rather inexpensive so I can't comment on how they would react to bigger issues. -
That's about £6500 over their budget guess I'll be off to bca to pick up a shed.
-
Any p/x's to trade out Steve? got a customer who's after a cheapy and don't have anything suitable.
-
Thanks guy's. I guess I'm doing it the right way round. My Mot tester asked me why I bother putting a fresh Mot on a car that isn't sold and said most dealers sell then prep, it got me thinking, but I guess this isn't the case. I shall continue as I am.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Kind Regards Jon.
