  1. Hi Tradex Our Editors attended 15 auctions in person in October and the same again through online auctions. They also speak to the vendors and leasing companies selling stock as well as the auction houses themselves. In addition, they regularly discuss market conditions with many dealers of all different sizes and with a wide range of stock profiles. Obviously, conditions vary across the UK and from site to site, but their general feeling was that values and demand were high at the start of the month, particularly on small cars which tended to be petrol. From what they saw, the level of demand was falling towards the end of the month and - as a result - they reported that stock levels were rising and prices falling away. Our trade values are, and always have been, a guide price for the whole of the UK designed to complement the local knowledge of dealers which is unparalleled and irreplaceable. If you can let us know where you do business and what auctions you regularly visit, I’d happily let you know when one of our Editors is around your way. Ben Hi trade vet To clarify, the page about the fastest selling cars isn’t from survey results. It’s taken from our Live Retail Pricing data and is based on trade-only adverts across the UK’s leading advertising portals. To be included, there needs to be a minimum of 50 sales a month in order to avoid randomly quirky models getting in and so that we can show the most accurate picture of what’s selling well. The interactive map - http://www.glassbusiness.co.uk/fastest-selling-cars - allows you to look at regional variations and go back 6 months. You will see that Dacia’s feature regularly! The fact they sell quickly has nothing to do with quality or desirability, especially in the eyes of car enthusiasts. I assume, as others have alluded to here, that they are very popular with people who see a car simply as a means of getting from A to B. Ben

  7. I may be slightly biased, but we believe we provide the most transparent and accurate values. They're set to reflect the market, not dictate it, and we publish our accuracy figures every month to help prove it: http://www.glassbusiness.co.uk/landing-pages/forecast-tableau-options/accuracy-transparency/. It also means our customers know how accurate we are on what matters most to them, as you can filter the results by car and fuel type, age, make and model. Our valuations are still only for the trade. And we put more into them than just web-based algorithms - our Editors are out in the marketplace getting real-world feedback every week. The Glass's Guide App (no paper guides anymore) is £600 a year (£50 a month) for unlimited use on two devices. Works offline as well. More on that here: http://www.glassbusiness.co.uk/products-and-services/price-trade-used-vehicles/glassguide-valuations/car-guide-app/. You can crawl the classifieds for a retail price, but our Live Retail Pricing, powered by Radar, does it for you. It gets live feeds from the UK's leading portals (most bar AT) to provide regional pricing and average days to sell. You can also see which of your rivals are stocking similar cars, how long they've had them and how many price changes they've made. More on that here: http://www.glassbusiness.co.uk/products-and-services/price-trade-used-vehicles/radar/ Our phone team would be happy to provide more info or answer any questions to help you make your choice. You can reach them on 020 3897 2500. Best of luck whichever way you decide to go. Ben

  11. Hi everyone We usually only send this to customers but would like to gather responses from, and share the resulting insights with, a wider audience. Please could you spare 3 minutes to complete our monthly Car Trade Survey? If so you will receive an advance copy of the findings and be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Amazon voucher. Simply tell us what you think by completing our survey by Saturday 30th September 2017. COMPLETE GLASS'S MONTHLY MARKET SURVEY All responses are completely anonymous. 12. Hi Jimbo I'm a little late to this but the Glass's Guide App is £600 (or £50 a month) with unlimited valuations. It works online with 3G/4G/WiFi using reg look up and offline using a search-tree (you need to update the data once a month). You can see it in action here: http://www.glassbusiness.co.uk/products-and-services/price-trade-used-vehicles/glassguide-valuations/car-guide-app/ We also publish our accuracy figures every month. Our values are set to reflect the market, not dictate it, so we're confident in their accuracy. You can filter by vehicle type, manufacturer, fuel type and more, so you can see how accurate we are on the stock that matters to you: http://www.glassbusiness.co.uk/landing-pages/forecast-tableau-options/accuracy-transparency/. This is updated every month, when we match the latest auction observations against our latest valuation data. Let me know if you've any questions. Thanks Ben
  13. We have purchased lists of independent used car dealers in the past (from the likes of Automotive Management) and they contain around 4,500-5,000 dealers. However, taking 20 independent dealers at random from AutoTrader and comparing them to this list we found that only 4, or 25%, appeared in the AM list. We googled all 20 dealers and they all had a website, so it would suggest the number could be somewhere nearer to 20,000 independent dealers (though admittedly 20 is a very small number to base this on!).
  14. Hi. I work at Glass's and using our Live Retail Pricing data these are the average days to sell (from when a car is first advertised online to the date the advert is removed) from the last 13 months: Jul 2014 43.8 Aug 2014 40.3 Sep 2014 40.3 Oct 2014 40.5 Nov 2014 40.9 Dec 2014 42.0 Jan 2015 49.6 Feb 2015 46.3 Mar 2015 41.7 Apr 2015 38.8 May 2015 40.1 Jun 2015 42.7 Jul 2015 39.3 Average days to sell: 42 days This is just 'days spent actively trying to sell a car', which might be why the days to sell are fewer than the AM poll. That or dealers are underestimating themselves! We can break this down by location - if people would be interested to see this we can get something done?
