1 hour ago, BHM said:I've found customers have no problem at all signing/paying outside - everyone expects things to be different. I'm sure our uncommonly good weather has helped. If it was howling a gale & pissing down it might be slightly different
theres nothing like a howling gale and it pissing it down to speed up a sale
o how in the old days I used to look longingly in to the windows of the gin palaces and wish I could wear pointy shoes a tie and now a gas mask too
-
my local coop is just like another day in there apart from one staff member who wears a world war 2 gas mask

“Car showrooms often have significant outdoor space and it is generally easier to apply social distancing”
It would make sense to apply this to all car dealers with outdoor space?!
what you fail to appreciate is all the cars outside have to be covered in plastic and wiped down once the customer has pawed it,the alternative is to lock it away for 72 hours
outdoor sales places are strongly advised to not let the customers touch the goods
also children must be under the control of a guardian
now sir would you like to sit in this peach with your shorts on and wiggle all the knobe like you have in the last 4?
so there you have it
lock the doors and get a pretty good commitment for a sale before they are allowed to put their arses on seats
does anyone else think long term once the initial I need a car now brigade have been seen and maybe purchased we are in for harrowing times
-
we now have a 2 tier society
those scared
and those that dont give a toss

and work out which group is IN WHICH GROUP
and don't give me the baloney we have a perspex screen up and pathetic handwipes by the door
just sayin.....

they have £92 million in the bank, what they are doing is protecting their assets by filing for chapter 11 this means their assetts are all secured from a creditor trying to wind them up,its the best thing they cane do in these uncertain times but I note the paperwork they submitted was short on ink and there was definitely a scrape on the bottom of page 3 that wasnt there when they originally got the paperwork

the post office can only deal with in trade vehicles
yours is not
so post office can't help
once a vehicle is sold and confirmed to dvla the tax stops and needs renewing
insurers like vehicles to be registered to the insurers name so you are going to struggle here
did you look in the sock drawer at the side of your bed?its surprising what we tend to wang in the there when in a hurry
be careful because unless you tick all the boxes if anything goes wrong ie he isn't insured/has an accident etc the police come to you,I'm thinking you are not originally from this country so be careful my friend the english pound is not much good in english prison
-
so you will be able to get the lightly scuffed old duffer motors before they are scooped by copart?

1 hour ago, Casper said:your 100 percent correct. Mate buying good cars at that level has always been difficult as are the margins for prep etc especially if like most of us here you care about your customers
although any good trade ins etc always fly out the door we took an old focus in before lockdown 07 plate with 45k miles one owner auto full ford history nice blue metallic had it up at £1695 and could have sold it 10 times over but as you say what's the chances of finding another slim .
you should have phoned the police when they drove that away
because they nicked it

9 minutes ago, awc1000 said:unlikely, or in that case it makes your assumption on the type of customers even more ridiculous,
i'll quote you - every make mainly from retirees buying their last car, that type of customer did not even amount to 5%, your starting to embarrass yourself.
any idea what the franchises opinion on the latest banded around scheme is? i would be interested to know your thoughts on it and how you know, if it makes sense i'll even give you my thoughts - based on being in daily contact with many franchises up and down the country.
I'm really not interested in your little life stood under the rostrum thinking you are mr big buyer, you are a gofer
with your little toys and your silly little babble of friends
I've spent my life avoiding your sort
-
11 minutes ago, awc1000 said:try asking what my thoughts are based on rather than presuming all the time, i currently underwrite for most franchises as a trade buyer and have done for 30+ years, i also sell late stock to franchises, i was well aware of what profile the last scrappage scheme cars were as i was there to see it with my own eyes, yes some gems got lost but in the scheme of things they were few and far between,
your strange exact profilling of the type of customer who took up the scheme is laughable, an opinion obviously formed by reading historic articles and listening to bullshit whilst standing at the block,
one things for sure - you were not walking in and out of franchises in 2009 on a daily basis to see what actually happened, unlike myself.
well actually I was
28 minutes ago, awc1000 said:I wouldn't expect an idiot to understand it, especially one who wasn't even in the job during the last scrappage scheme.
sounds like your still in a mood because your sole source of stock is still closed.
you obviously do not know me
let me put it this way ,when I first started buying at the auctions the first auctioneer I bought off has now been dead 35 years+
-
11 minutes ago, awc1000 said:It's not the problem you think it is, nor was it last time round, granted some gems were lost in the last scrappage scheme but the bulk of the swappers were tat, exactly how it was intended.
the only loss to the franchises were the sales managers who lost their bung money off the banger traders, it was 2k gov contribution and 1k from the manufacturer, the gov money only appearing after confirmation off collection by an appointed scrap dealer, hence nothing could go missing.
the only loss to the used car trade was the lads selling and relying on sub £1k shite, and they were not that bothered anyway as the supply of that stuff is constant anyway.
if the scheme comes back it will be good news for franchises ,and good news for proper used car dealers selling decent £2-3k cars who have it hard competing with cowboys selling un-prepped sub £1500 junk.
as for the lost gems, well last time they really were few and far between, it certainly wasn't the great mint older car cull that people imagined or presumed happened, the only shock was how many folks with £200 cars who were in the market for a new motor.....
if you are worried about another scheme and your stock profile is all sub £1k sold as seen tat then you are either a busy fool or need to find a new career.
absolute garbage
and I'm not talking about the scrapped cars
there were mint cars of every make, service histories to choke a donkey on,often just serviced too, these cars mainly came from retirees who decided to scrap cars to buy a new one as their last cars
you told me you buy cars on assignment so I can only guess the dealers you deal with are not kia hyundai and ford sellers

What grew the numbers fastest was boosted (paid) posts with nice photos of supercars and some sort of a game, question etc to engage viewers and make them tag other people. Like a close up post of a Lamborghini wheel asking them to guess what car this is etc... Targeting your boost to a specific area gives you more valuable local likes. Hard work.
I have been on facebook for like 3 weeks now and I've got a badge apparently
it's a bit like TripAdvisor I guess I used to report on there purely to help fellow travellers but I soon got bored of their constant emails to report where I went last week
maybe it's just me?

hi
this is often wrong though
I had a case with dvla before lockdown where they wouldn't tell me due to gdpr ,I think I might have mentioned it on here where I kicked all the toys out of the pram and told them they are still accountable to the great unwashed
I got my result but my cards probably marked

yes yes

28 minutes ago, Paul C said:If that's a concern then you could use some kind of technique to limit the number of enquiries, ie limit per day, or per IP address, or per email address. And/or use a CAPCHCA to prevent someone else screen scraping your paid-for service.
No method is perfect but it would dissuade casual attacks such as the above. The trick is to find a solution which isn't intrusive to the people you want to give the info to, but prevents abuse. No doubt CAP-HPI have an overall throttle anyway.
it's getting more complicated with every layer
