You got a great result then. I've been waiting for contact from Barclays for over a month. Multiple calls/emails etc.......crickets. My relationship with my bank is currently strained to put it mildly.

My bank santander who I spoke to on friday as I had a problem, the business side is phone only and fair enough it took 40 minutes on hold but I was basically asked why are you not claiming the bbls loan,I have until the 4th November at the moment according to govt advise that may be extended, you dont have to go 50g you can have say 10 if you prefer,so long as you have a business bank account the set up should literally take 10 minutes if you are slow or 2 minutes if you are a starter

I havent decided if I want the govt groats as basically my setup wouldn't really benefit unless I wanted to invest but I'm slowing down not speeding up

maybe I could borrow the full 50 g  get some gold chains and tracky bottoms and go and start some local door knocking loans at 10 er a week mate or the dog gets it

I think its a bit early to predict reliably what June (and beyond) will look like, based on 3 days. True demand will be masked by any pent-up demand or fulfilment of delayed orders, etc. But the "starting up" of the supply of cars was always going to be problematical. And its not the same as before anyway, auctions are going to feel very different with social distancing requirements, a big shift to online (I reckon the auction houses prefer to do it online anyway) and new car supply issues being a factor too. There are a number of factors - such as the government actively discouraging public transport use; non-normal extension on PCPs, etc - for which there is no precedent. This period is distinctly different from any time before, including the 2009 financial crisis.

    yes

    very stormy seas ahead

it's all very well holding the beads and saying its gonna be on its gonna be ok

the real test is who has the nerve and the resources to see it through

car prices trade at the moment are a joke bolstered by too many idiots chasing too few cars

those that can ,hold the reins to the horse longer

  3. be sure to take a very good video and stills of all aspects of your unit unless it's a full upkeep by the landlord lease (highly unlikely)

also make a copy of the leasehold agreement and cloud it so you have it forever

I've no idea what kind of unit you are renting but normally once you move in responsibility moves to you so make sure of things like roof leaks responsibility for electricity etc

finally let the council know as soon as you move in because I know one girlz lost £10,0000 grant money because of this

theres been a spate of burglaries where my business is,its all small time but none of it helps make sure you put your worst car up to the shutter door every night so they cant prise it open by backing into it

any more help we will all help you

    good luck

The few times I’ve had anything to do with Merivas (boxy old shape) I’ve found the owners couldn’t give a shit about tyres, or the bodywork & mechanicals for that matter! Do these type of owners ever attempt any repairs or even basic maintenance if it’s not related to a failed MOT?

    no

    and they cant drive

    this customer obviously an exception

I agree and it would work for me once I have reliable people working for me. I had a small yard and around 25 cars which I could manage all alone by my self. I never had anyone working for me. now I have moved to a much bigger premises with capacity of over 60 cars and I currently have 40 cars in stock,  I am running the business alone which is not wise but before I start hiring this virus thing shut me down.

Big boys changed their strategy since the Brexit.

wow you must go through some shoe leather running round then

be careful seen a fair few die young in this job with heart attacks through stress

    big like by the way

I think thats an excellent idea i was looking prior to bat carnage for just this kind of thing to take my youngest on an adventure all i could find was full blown motor homes which was to big for what i wanted, there where a few but took a four hour drive to collect and then another 4 hours back and four hours onto where i wanted to go...so i give up.

I wouldnt worry about the negative brigade, i am amazed half of them switch the computer on without the fear of being electrocuted.

Go big or go home thats the difference between the men and the boys when the seas get rough.

well I'm not being negative if you read what I've put

we are heading for a slump, its reconned 10% of under 30,s might be unemployed next year just like spain,so if you take the bigger picture these people will be at home and draining the family purse, house prices aren't going to rise, ppi is spent and here's the big one negative equity at the bank of england, look it up

then consider whether borrowing money to follow a dream in a diminishing market is a good idea

I tell you what I would do,if I wanted the money I would take it and bank it and see what the world looks like 6 to10 months from now

in the meantime if one of these day Van's comes up in a slash sell market one has the funds rather than buying at the top of the market because these people have lost their jobs

theres a big world out there and rather than call me negative some of you seriously need to get out of your bubble worlds

I am sorry I don't follow ? what do you mean by books?

Thank you for the info, I wish you all the best. As I said my only problem is finding good cars with good margins. a lot of money gets spent on repairs. what is the best place to get good stock from ?

    old chinese proverb

spend more on car eee spend less on rectification

you need the eye to pick trash from mash to make the cash

try buying privately and kick them hard in the nuts if you can, look to see if they are desperate and listen to what they say do a hip before you splash the  cash not before mind, be ready to walk but tell them theres my number if you change your mind

you can buy a  rechargeable oxy3 machine if the cars a honker but showing promise

we all started buying cars the big boys reject, funnily enough the big boys want this stuff now seeing as 1% is shit

  8. well I'm sorry but the thought of getting in a van with cupboards in that had an unknown occupant in last week and had a few shits in the bog is bottom of my to do lists no matter how much pledge you used

we've also got a big recession sweeping our way/ Brexit /and of course have 2 pints in Scotland and your over the drink drive level, this is why I dont go up there anymore

sounds a plan go for it

remember though no matter what you might read in the daily smell the suits will want their money back eventually come what may as vicky used to say

Lucas does, with fair use restrictions:

7 Days to Change Your mind

    • If you decide to return the car, your refund will be adjusted by 45 pence per mile to reflect usage.
    • All return vehicles are subject to an Additional Administration Fee of £695.
    •

whilst all this looks good unless it also states this is in addition to your rights under cra I would suggest it's a restrictive practise and not an Avenue I would like to explore

I’d say I was staggered. Part of your business model is advertising that you take back cars, no questions asked, within the first 7 days?

I don’t recall any car dealership, new or old, offering such generosity.

I've done it since cra came out

not used it but it saves hassle 29 days down the line, I've always thought

I  electronically send log books off after 7 full days and tell customers this too so they know where they stand

We had our local environmental officer yesterday posting leaflets through our letter boxes on how to open safety

This woman was touching all the letter boxes door handles , stepping inside everywhere when the doors were open on the estate from what i saw , I was outside washing the doors , windows and funnily enough letter boxes .

She comes over to us so i ask , " whats the leaflet for in a sharp tone  ? How to open next week she said , Then told me she's an environmental  health and safety officer but doubled up as a leaflet delivery person today because its important to get the rules out in the area .

So i asked her what training she had because you've touched every letter box and door on the estate , stepped into my workshop where it says NO ENTRY , and are presently standing way to close to me , you have not got gloves on , cant see and form of hand sanitiser or wipes and your like a bee round a honey pot to every building on the road . I suppose on the leaflet it tells me to enforce 2 Metre rule , wash my hands , put up signs , put screens up on my desk , use the appointment only system where i can , be careful and don't touch things doesn't it , don't take cash , and make sure i have a routine to clean car interiors

She says yes it does cover some of those points , So why then  in gods name WHY haven't you read it then i asks , told her to collect her leaflets and take them away with her .

Then had to wash the doors again .

went to the fish shop last night wife queued, I stayed in car, she took cash and card just in case

    they only take cash

they have all the gear up/ distancing /in and all the right stickers

    gave her change

I would rather it was card payment only

she had no gloves on either apparently so wraps chips/ take money /put money in till /give you someone else's change

I won't be going back for some time

  12. you say you are going to do it part time and from home so

you have to put yourself in the seat of the customer

why would I want to go to someone's home at this time to buy a car when I might just catch covid 19 from the seller his family the dog or even his next door neighbour coughing over the fence

so a warranty is a bit of a USPS

therefore its up to you and what the customers perspective of you is

would you go to you and lash the cash

At the polar opposite end of the market, Dodgy Duncan would have made for a brilliant interview! A very affable Irishman who was the master of yarns. He's been retired for some 15 years now but memories of DD linger on. A right craic!

    love it

you say hes retired but his old property is selling mobility scooters, maybe he still has a finger in the pie?

The recent article suggesting a scrappage scheme for new and used, seems a little optimistic (the suggestion did come from the IMDA though). It would only help those would could afford a new (to them) car, after all. I sense if the government did any kind of economic incentive scheme, they're going to be wanting to target a much broader cross section of business and the general public.

vat decrease (temporarily say 6 months)

it's the only way to add stimulus across all boards of business

we are free to set the rate once december comes

I think he said he had ditched AT ?

I watched his zoom and liked him but dont understand why he would promote autotrader, now go back to 1988 and I would have held the semi automatic for them as they broke the local paper monopoly

frightening to believe they now take this position and in my opinion abuse it

now we have President Trump saying twitter is abusing its position

    I agree

after I'm dead I firmly believe big business is going to override government

    be afraid
