I would prefer to pay for what I use. So charge me £50 for a 25 mile trip, charge me £300 for a 250 mile trip. Your right, everyone is trying to make a living and that includes me. But you have just said it your self! You wish mfl introduces a flat rate as you are always buying cars far away, but that will be subsidised by the likes of me who prefers to buy local cars. Why should should I be paying for your reduced delivery? I bet you would be moaning if it was the other way round. As you are a champion moaner.

I have now used Autorola twice. They are very good. The only down side is the delivery charge, which seems to be a flat rate. So try and do your research with regards to the location of the vehicle. The first car was located in Torquay as I recognised the forecourt, a 15 mile drive from me. But because the delivery is a flat rate they wanted to charge me £150. So I said I will go and collect myself or just not buy the car. After a chat with the manager, this was approved. Second car was the same story, a little bit further but I got a trade plater to do it for £60 and they wanted £150. Every little helps.

another advice needed for new car dealer
jamslug replied to sam62's topic in Frequently Asked Questions
I had to learn it all from scratch and make mistakes on the way and learn from them. 5 years later I think I have just about sussed the majority of it ;). Take a look in the car dealer mag as there are loads of trade contacts who you can call and approach. That would be my advice. I would also say although the active members on this forum are very friendly and open, i don't think many of them will want to disclose what they have taken years to learn and (in some cases :P) perfect. I mean, all the questions you have asked are many key features on how to be successful in this field. All the best, James -

The Great British Fuel Card Rip Off
jamslug replied to PrestigeDiesels's topic in General Dealer Chat
I had the same with the Fuel Card Company . They gave me some rubbish that it creeps up over a period of time and it's my job to phone on a regular basis to keep ensuring it doesn't go up. I said well put it back down then and they said that now I have phoned it will gradually decrease on a week by week basis. Now i'm using a debit card. -
I'll have a look too. Can you email me details uglcars@gmail.com Thanks

I knew it would happen one day but I didn't realise it would be like this. I am truly devastated. Utterly mortified. I have nearly completed year 5 and it has finally happened. I handed over a car on Saturday and 30 miles later it suffered a catastrophic engine failure. I strangely found it quite funny to be honest. Obviously I was refunding the money, it wasn't going to be a battle for either parties. So with that already established almost immediately, I laughed. What can you do other than laugh? I ensure a detailed PDI, MOT and a service are all carried out before the hand over. There was no evidence of the forthcoming. The customer also was a right pleb so we went on a test-drive to the moon and back, there was also no sign of the forthcoming and the customer was very happy with the car. So I have done absolutely everything I could have possibly done to ensure the roadworthy-ness and then this happens. It is just bad luck. We live and we learn...... well there isn't anything to learn from this. The guy was still incredibly satisfied with the buying experience and understands that it is total bad luck. He is getting a refund and everyone is happy!

Pahahaha. Is it not just me then :P. I will say "I am sure you a perfect driver but would you mind if I just maneuver the car out of the forecourt into the car park" (i am now frantically wiping mould into the palms of my hands and buying as much time as possible by driving really slowly and wiping like I have never wiped before)

Craigslist? I thought that was a thing in America where if you felt sad you can call a man or lady who would come and make you happy again.

I had a 2006 Jag x-type in last week. 186k on it . (it was a part ex). I don't put silent salesmen in windows. The first person walking around asked the mileage and died on the forecourt when I said 186k. I was like but it is £2500 !!!! The next person asked and I said 186K and they said , oooo that's nothing for this engine, same engine as tranny v's (apparently) not a problem .... and bought it. I have tried some newer high mileage cars 3 year old beemers with 100,000 , no one really batters their eye lids at the mileage. However I do prefer wowing people with low mileage cars than I do shocking 4 out of 5 people with high mileage cars.

Not a problem with me. Just carrying on like usual. But just more money left over at the end of the month!
