  1. Just having a look at the listings, there is a lovely RS3 on there tonight for the buy it now price of £32,500. Autotrader states that this will be an estimated margin of -£696. I found the retail advert on the dealers website, where the same car is advertised for, you've guessed it, £32,500.....

If only that was true I see it as the decent buyers leave the pond life that shouldn’t be in there in the first place will remain and continue to feed the main dealers goal to offload crap at any price.

That is one of the issues, it used to be franchised dealers only, but anyone can sell on there now. I particularly enjoy the buy it now cars that Autotrader say are over retail prices....

  3. Just curious, if you are buying your stock from Gumtree and Facebook, and then selling them on Gumtree and Facebook, how could you charge more than you got the car for in the first place? Why wouldn't your customers just buy the car from Gumtree and Facebook the first time it is advertised?

  4. I've never had any problems with him, I chipped them £150 on a car once. He needed some persuading though.

Regarding Dealer Auction, yes it is shit, but they have opened it up to all traders, not just franchised, and at least doubled the annual fees, so I don't think they will miss the 10 or 20 a month that Holdcroft put through them, if they are going to do their own thing, but I won't hold my breath on that one.

  5. They can ring the insurance companies to see who is covered for what, so unless it was 3am, they could have sorted it by the roadside.  Basically, if it was covered, regardless of the MID, nothing will happen.

On another cheery note, saw on the tv the other day that they will seize cars now if the tax is 2 months and a day out of date.

We've had a few cars clamped recently parked outside on the road for no tax. We even had one clamped outside the tyre fitters on a private business park.

The DVLA have subbed it out to a private company who are obviously on commission

    I give you 2....

    1) one man was being checked into custody for drugs... Had lots of notes on him so we was counting it at the custody desk. Another prisoner was being moved from the nurses room to a cell and he leaped at the desk trying to take the cash and was pounded upon by few heavyweights.... Yes in a secure police station custody block - how on earth did he think he would get away with the cash? Like I said they are thick and in this weird mindset.

    2) Post office was being robbed by 2 men armed with a gun in a bag. The owner had his own gun and pulled it out. The 2 tried running out but was locked in.

We turned up and found they only had a banana in a carrier bag....  We asked them why you ran - one said "my banana wouldn't even fire blanks" and matey pulled out the real thing.

All 3 got done - including the owner for possessing a fire arms.

Hate the domestic jobs. Gosh they are annoying as F. She said this. He said that. She shagged him. He did that. <_<

I saw the first one on an episode of Road Wars many years ago.  Were you on that?

    Hi,

I have had this issue on a 2011 500 Abarth. Bluetooth control buttons on the steering wheel inoperative and flashing odometer resulting in drained battery. Tried to do a proxi alignment and it failed. We cleared the fail codes after changing the battery (because it is being drained after a couple of days) and then the only code remaining was U173387 convergence telematic module - Missing message.

Is this the name for the blue and me module? Does anyone know of a guide for gaining access to the blue and me module so I can get the correct part number?

Wasn't U173387 sunk in the Atlantic in 1944?

Once again... If you could be disqualified for abusing a blue badge in the article provided at the bottom of it the penalty is mentioned - "max £1k fine" - if you could be banned it would have mentioned "max fine £1k fine and possible disqual"

Also if it was something new then there would be heavy publicity about it - just how there was about drug driving etc

However the article has done its job - to confuse and scare people

Also i retired at a senior role - more managerial / procedural. Beat bobbies know more about little blue badge laws

That's not really correct as we have already established that you can be disqualified following conviction of any offence.

You have said 'if you can be banned', you can be banned as these people were.

Perhaps it is taken for granted now, otherwise everytime a potential sentence was given it would have to include, 'possible driving disqualification' as well.

However, as we all know, following the ban on drink driving, there is no drink driving anymore. And I haven't seen anyone using their phone whilst driving since that was made illegal.....

Sounds to me that you were an Inspector or a Chief Inspector.

On a lighter note, next time you are on Youtube have a look at the Crimebodge site, he has some interesting videos about the extremely profession Police Forces of this country....

  9. The last place I worked for had the same thing, first car delivered, guy waiting outside the house, driver didn't check anything, easy.  As he was a good customer, he rang up and tried to pay over the phone for a 2nd car, but they refused to accept payment unless he came in. It's the delay in finding out the 1st payment is moody that often leads to a 2nd pop at it.  As everyone says, no card payments!!!!

Seemingly straight forward easy to deal with punter with a clean Omega diesel upgrades to a slightly newer higher spec one.We retail his swapper very quickly. However when it is warmed up it,it cuts out and is difficult to restart. We get it in and have to replace the fuel pump which was expensive.A while later we are doing the same on a Omega diesel under the terms of our own warranty. We then remembered that the other one was from the same customer. He must have been using red diesel which of course he denied.I cancelled the warranty.....We finished up being well out of pocket on both cars.

My understanding is that Red Diesel is the same as White Diesel, except that it is red?
