Some people disagree with their numbers but I have no reason do discredit them. However what are they going to do? Retain the lockdown until a vaccine is developed?

PS Good luck getting home. A number of UK fights destined for Spain have just turned around mid flight.

Clearly, your massive knowledge of disease doesn't extend to knowing where Lanzarote is.

Secondly, I suspect that you might be using the Daily Mail website for your information.

Thirdly, you don't seem to understand that I won't be flying to Spain if I am in Lanzarote.

Fourthly, if I am stuck in an all inclusive hotel here for several more weeks, I suspect I will enjoy it more than you, living in your bedroom at your parents house.

Its chain not belt driven and yes it was done at just over 110k miles. I have no intention to part exchanging it to the trade when I get a new car so you dont need to worry about that contracts.

Im not going to post my stats, purely because they are all screendumps so it would take a long time to type up. However if you are interested you might wish to browse these links.

China is a communist regime. Do you believe the sanctions that they have imposed would work in the UK? I certainly dont.

    :lol::lol::lol:

So you are not disagreeing that China has less cases now?

That comment in bold is painfully ironic.

First I must say this. As the username indicates I am not a car dealer. I am just an average person who has been following the developments of covid-19 since mid January. I am interested in what people in various sectors think and how they are reacting. I am firmly of the belief that this will cause big ripples in the economy. I am no expert but personally I think people might need to scale back on big ticket items over the next few months due to rising levels of unemployment, caused by both government and personal reactions to the virus.

I have just signed up here to pick up on this post because it really pains me to read tripe like this and I feel a distinct obligation to educate those who contnue to spout it. Firstly cancer and sepsis are not contagous whereas Covid-19 has a high level of transmissibility. ie one person can give it to many others.

Secondly the reason its only killed 10 people in two months is due to something called exponential growth. Now I doubt thats something you have even heard of right now let alone understand what it means. Please take a few minutes to look at the below video and educate yourself.

Looking at Italy by way of example, and I have collected a lot of data from BNO tracking on this subject, the total cases/deaths progressed as follows in February:

    Date/cases/deaths

    Feb 19 / 3 / 0

    Feb 20 / 3 / 0

    Feb 21 / 19 / 0

    Feb 22 / 62 / 2

    Feb 23 / 155 / 3

    Feb 24 / 223 / 6

    Feb 25 / 322 / 11

    Feb 26 Forgot to collect

    Feb 27 / 655 / 17

    Feb 28 / 889 / 21

So as you can see. To begin with it didnt look like much was happening and then it accelerated and now Italy are at 17,000+ cases and 1200+ deaths. Finally to those saying its just the flu, I say this. Yes its closely related to the influenza family but so was the Spanish flu and look what that did around the world. Get your fucking heads out of the sand.

    Jesus.

As I am still in Lanzarote, I was planning to put my head in the sand today. Now I'm not so sure.

I went onto Google to find out what 'exponential growth' was, because I am obviously a bit stupid, but I still don't understand.

Could you put those figures into a spreadsheet? Perhaps get some more up to date ones as well?

China had 8 new cases yesterday by the way. What is the opposite of growth?

The biggest fallout will ultimately be the number of personal and business bankruptcies unfortunately.

Having lives through the impacts of a world war our parents and grandparents lived cautiously, unfortunately our generation less so.

However, the idea of losing approx. 10% of the over 80’s is a scary prospect and right now dwarfs the long term impacts. Especially if you are in the Care Home business.

On the upside, there should be a good supply of Honda Jazz’s....

Not such an upside if all the potential customers are dead....

Basically if you’re over 65, smoke or have any pre-existing condition you will be left to die when the peak hits.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/03/who-gets-hospital-bed/607807/

the issue today isn’t whether you will have a business, it’s whether you will have a life, family or customers.

And car finance applications down 70% with one leading provider.

This is not new. I was watching a program about the air ambulance and they were showing the people who take the calls.

Written on a piece of paper was the criteria for sending it out to a patient, one of them was a maximum age limit for heart attacks, I think it was 60, it might have been a bit more.

What's really scary is that people think like you. Since when can cancer or sepsis be transmitted from person to person?

Cancer and Sepsis kill hundreds of thousands of people a year in this country.

    Flu kills tens of thousands.

The Corona virus has killed 10 in 2 months.

    Can you understand this?

I'm not sure I can explain it any simpler for you.

Most people will catch it and not know.

616,000 people died in this country in 2018.

If you are that worried, nail your doors and windows shut and sit it out.

The good thing about this is that it will cut down on Flu cases in the future, because people will stop sneezing into their hands and spreading germs about.

    Just wondering, do you smoke?

Now declared a global pandemic. Still nothing to worry about

    Do you live in Italy?

Must be a long commute every day if you sell cars in the UK.

Joe Rogan did a very good interview with someone who knew what he was talking about.

He obviously wasn't a Car Dealer.

A few good points he made were if you are old and you smoke, it's game over.

Also it doesn't seem to affect children hardly at all.

Well I'm going to take advantage of the low priced holidays.. I'm going to write March off and if anyone lives through this on my return.. Start selling again!! Hysteria is no good for anyone's business.. Except Andrex!! :-)

I'm in Lanzarote at the moment. The majority of the people in the hotel are knocking on a bit, so many of them coughing and sneezing into their hands and then carrying on with the all inclusive food.

    Everything is normal here.

I don’t have the answers, I have an opinion. It doesn’t seem to correspond with yours. Ah well. Even Trump has said he believes it will be seasonal. Where do you think he gets his advice from, the beano?

Quite what my length of time in the industry has to do with talking about Coronavirus I don’t know. I can read the news like you can. Anyone can hold an opinion.

Do I know you? Do you know me? This is the second thinly veiled dig at me you have had on here, in the last 3 weeks. You seem to have a little hard on for me.

The moderators on the forum here don’t really like little spats, which is understandable. It doesn’t look good on the board as a whole.

I happen to live very close to the areas you are going to looking at cars tonight (Petts Wood, Orpington) so why don’t you send me a private message (to keep the board free from this sort of thing) tell me the name of a pub near where you’re going to be later and a time, and I’ll swing by and buy you a pint and you can tell me to my face all your problems with me and we can sort it all out?

Not too close to your face I hope....

    My god!!!

Go and worry about it then but scare mongering on here isn't helping anyone!!

Boo hoo, one guy can't get some budget tyres, get different ones then. There aren't that many people running about with 1.6mm of tread all sat searching for a pair of ditch finders. It's just scare mongering, I must've bought 12-15 tyres in the last week, none of them were premium brand, all were readily available and not one person told me I had to go on a awaiting list.

Supply chains will suffer, we'll all survive and come summer time, we'll all be back to normal.

No one gives a fuck about the amount of people that die in car crashes every day (more than these sniffles people have) but we all still jump in and don't think twice about it.

Give something a name and something that feeds the tabloids and you have morons panic buying toilet roll.

Fuck me, toilet roll???? It's not a fucking stomach bug!!!

A few months back, Brexit was going to wipe us all out.

    Now it's this.

Everyone is so doom and gloom!!

Pick ya heads up, turn the frown upside down and be a bit more positive.

Oh, and wash ya hands every now and again!!

There's 3 threads based on this yet I don't remember anyone ever being so concerned about the flu, that goes around every winter killing all the oldies off, enough to create a thread about it.

Just to put this into perspective, in 2018, 616,000 people died in the UK. That is nearly 1700, every day.

I think 6 people have died from the virus in about 2 months and they were all at least in their 70s and unwell.

But there will be a shortage of budget tyres....

Even more reason to have good pics, videos and sell with delivery options to avoid corona virus right?

Take the travel out of it for customers and keep them out your office. Win win.

Maybe Cazoo is going to clean up and we are all going out of business? Do you think that they started the virus????

According to the spin doctors in the private forum, it’s nowt to worry about.

However, is it something to worry about, I definitely think so.

According to a large independent tyre retailer near me, he says there are no supply of budget tyres coming until august.

Supply chains are going to broken all over the world.

We heard this a couple of weeks ago. No budget tyres coming out of China at all. Pirellis all round I reckon.

On a separate point, I'm assuming that all the people on here that are saying that they are worried about this don't smoke, they drink in moderation, eat a healthy balanced diet, exercise regularly and aren't overweight?

    Thought not.....

Hoping someone can help me as Fiat have just quoted me £1600 to get these issues fixed, but I do know a great mobile mechanic who may be able to help me.

I have a 64 plate Fiat 500 Cult - coming up to 93000 miles, mileage started flashing around 2 months ago and the Blue & Me stopped working. Took it into Fiat today to see if there was anything on the computer and apparently the Blue and Me needs replacing at a cost of £480 (leave it was my response)!

Second fault - the petrol gauge itself works perfectly fine, the range however keeps going to empty with plenty of fuel left in. I've been quoted £1100 as apparently the whole speedo needs replacing (this is the only fault on the speedo) The finance is due up November of this year and I have a baby on the way, my questions is will the car die? (as I need it for work) and if not is there any other known fixes that won't cost me a ridiculous amount of money?!

    Any help would be appreciated!

Baby is on the way, so you won't need the car for work for much longer will you?
