  1. dont expect it to get any busier i started six moths ago and have lost thousands already, mainly to autotrader who told me month by month you need to be buying high forecourt desirability cars so take our app which i did, buying them at 3 hundred or so over cap clean.they then bring in the price indicators making all my cars high price.thanks for the education AT a complete waste of time and money still at least they have done alright out of me. i only have low mileage fsh mint cars with retail check readings over 70, no one is interested
  2. and have 4 times the risk of comebacks
  3. i totally disagree. What they will see is an oppurtunity to say the car is priced too high.
  4. How much revenue and audience would autotrafer have if evryone jumped ship in one foul swoop. If we had like a one week no ads with autotrader evry now and then maybe we could hold them to ransom and would listen,i really dont think everyone has yet understood how price indicator bs will affect them.
  5. i really dont know, but 3 major dealers have gone and it looks like another is on its way as i was looking at his stock which has all been dramaticaly reduced all to low price indicator. So must be in trouble as we all know its impossible to buy 50 desirable cars and price them at AT low price and make a profit. Its scandalous what autotrader are doing and im not even sure it is legal to put an opinion on a individual second hand item without seeing it,surely against trading standards principles. The whole of the trade need to join together to launch their own platform and rid the scurge of autotrader and its ruining tactics which are strangling us to the death.
  6. new price indicators will see the death of numerous forecourts in the coming months they are dropping like flies here on the wirral
  7. not only are we told to price our cars to AT retail price to get a good boy green good price,if you now do that they come up as HIGH fair at best,to get the green good price you now have to drop price by 5 per cent to get out of the red banner
  8. They just put me out of business with this. Buying cars with high desirability rating AT at BCA fetch 5 to 8 hundred quid over ATs trade price, so every car we sell will have a fucking RED BANNER FUCKING WARNING HIGH PRICE im livid and just dont get how auto trader justify it as transparency,if that where the case private ads would have price indicator too RANT OVER
  9. No i dont, i read somewhere that the finance company would help with the process?
  10. Thanks David, i have contacted them over the weekend by mail and waiting for a call.I understand that 6 to 10 cars is nothing to them hopefully they will understand we have to start somewhere, and without being able to do finance,we will never expand. Will post their position when i get it.
  11. Hi, could anyone recommend a finance company that would work with a new dealer with small 6 to 10 car rolling stock please. We do have commercial premises thanks in advance
  12. Close to being ready to trade could anybody recommend a warranty company that would deal with a small dealer with a rolling stock of 6 to 10 cars how does it even work? what kind of warranty should provide or sell? would really appreciate help on this
  13. Yes was thinking of using cap, when i did cars from home 30 years ago i was nicking 450 a car on average, but obviously its all changed....
  14. Yes i was expecting an answer or two like that, but there must be an average figure that people work to ? Is 800 out of the way ?
  15. Hi, still looking for a premises after being knocked back by the landlords of the unit i wished to rent.Looking at storing cars at home then working from an office for appointment only viewings etc. I know this is a big question but what would be an average gross profit on a 5 / 6 k car these days, a rough amount to add on car bought correctly at auction? thanks
  16. Hi, your absolutely right, been to see the unit again and not possible 11 cars, but there is a slightly larger one for not much more money, by the way thanks for the input....
  17. Hi all, I've recently returned from 20 years living abroad, and wish to return to selling used cars.I was working from home 40 years ago and have been out of the trade that long.I am currently living in a small house with no drive but outside street parking.Selling from home is a no no? If i have to tax and re register very vehicle before sale thats not going to work really is it? I have seen a 100 sq metre warehouse on an industrial estate 5 minutes from home with outside parking for 4 cars.Rent 8k a year plus usuall expenses.I guess i could get at least 15 cars overall on the site.In your opinion is this a viable business model? Really appreciate any input,thanks........
