had only good customers so far but turnover is the problem and new markers seem to have had an effect
-
I never said they were overpriced. They make their market value and i don't mind paying it thats not the point . And when i said having no price markers made no difference to ad views that was against cars with good markers. Unfortunately AT are now wise to manuel removal of price markers so that option has now gone
EH?

Are there any dealers out there to help organise a group and chip in to seek legal advice with a view to taking legal action against Autotrader. In my view it cannot be legal for any company to pass judgement and value a secondhand item especially one that they have not physically seen. There must be something we can do. Looking for people that are motivated. Please let me know your thoughts

so I'm supposed to let Autotrader price indicator dictate what i can and can't sell?

1 hour ago, EPV said:I once had a Skoda Octavia, out of the box this thing, estate, manual, diesel, perfect. AT desirability rating of 95, a days to turn index of 33 days, and I priced it to 100% of market. Took me 105 days to sell, after steadily dropping the price to retain 100% of market.
I recently sold a Mercedes E Class, with a desirability rating of 45, days to turn 61, priced at 105% of market and sold in 9 days, could have sold it twice over.
The metrics are a good guide but if you're looking to them to justify why your cars aren't selling when they should be, I think you're barking up the wrong tree.
You are selling two of the most readily available cars and my understanding that these particular vehicles are sold on price, usually. So if you are saying all your cars are overpriced (relative to others on that platform) then maybe that is where your answer lies. But you know your market better than me. Try lowering the price of one of your cars for 2 days and see if that makes a significant difference?
Hi thanks for the input but how do you sell on price when mini hatch one and fiat 500 are making 500 to 1000 over cap clean...HELP

Ive just had an ad removed by AT for misleading information. I changed the mileage to remove price marker but clearly stated the correct mileage in capital letters in the strapline. The only misleading shit in the ad is auto traders fucking price marker the bastards i hate them

Hi, all the cars are minis and fiat 500 and have forecourt desirability readings for my area of 85 plus.Great photos, but all overpriced because AT say they are ==i just had an ad removed by AT because i had removed their indicator manually

I'm trying to understand why I'm only getting 8 views a day on literally every car i advertise, no matter what the price position. Its awful compared to other dealers and private ads

on the whole though I reckon the higest adviews are a good indicator of cars that are closest to selling next.
i just don't get it. In six months on a package i never got more than 10 daily adviews per car, some days only 3 or 4

3 hours ago, David Horgan said:I had AT on the phone again for 45 mins this morning regarding this subject of price markers .
I have a car that's one of only a very few for sale , AT say i should sell at £17,303 retail to get a good marker I'm at £19,995 because of the extras fitted and condition of the car , this price was worked out by looking at retail prices , how long each garage had the car in stock , extras fitted against competitors . I still think I'm £500 less than where I should be too .
My car is priced HIGH , They actually told me they take the prices of cars for sale times that by the number of cars and divide by same number for an average price , Bloody twats .
While I'm talking to him I get an enquiry via my web site number , Guy searching on GOOGLE for that type of car , saw our web site and rang . NO Markers on Google , none on our web site and the result is its sold this morning after he popped down to see us , PX is a great car , with 12 k on finance to add to the deal , Collects Sat Morning .
Asked him why he searches google and he says AT are to complicated now to use , He cant re Find the cars he looked at anymore , Doesn't understand the low , high , relevant pricing , the price markers confuse him somewhat as the low markers make him mistrust the dealer , High markers get in his head too much and he cant bring himself to ring them , cant find a car he's looking for with a GOOD marker on it ,
Just makes you wonder doesn't it at what level of pricing the same attitude of this guy becomes a problem for us all on AT and car Guru .
the last person i spoke to about indicators at AT said he agreed with me but nothing he could do.....great

Can anyone tell me how many daily ad views they get on average with their autotrader ads.I cancelled my package and website due to indicators but have placed 7 ads on the paid in advance ads.All the cars are minis or fiat 500 with AT forecourt desirablity readings of 80 plus.I am getting 8 to 12 views a day on average, and thats with the paid boost ie total cost per car 33 pounds a week, these 7 cars have now been advertised for 7 days and ive not had a call on any of them. All cars are the right colour, low mileage FSH well photographed.I have one at fair price one at high price and the others with indicators removed( which has made no difference to views)
Forgot to say when my wife sells the odd car privately in a private ad she gets around 300 to 400 ad views a week.

Can i urge everyone who has a package with autotrader plus their website to at least move their website away to someone like car dealer 5 or anyone else, and to tell rhem its about standing up to AT indicators, their websites are way to expensive anyway,at least you wont have indicators over your website too,we all need to do something and quickly too the only time they will listen is if we hurt their revenue.
-
just wondering how everyone is getting on with the AT markers and wbat response the customers are giving. As we all know stuff is making up to a grand over clean sometimes more so getting a green good price is impossible.

if you had a fleet of Clio’s, corsa’s , Polos, Fiestas etc your phone would be melting. I’ve sold two Polos , a Golf, a Clio and a Fiesta since last Tuesday out of 10 cars. The V50 , S40 , Honda Accord and the A4 are still here. What’s that tell you?
thats easy to say but how do you buy any of the hot cars at bca and manage to good price them on autotrader its impossible?

He quoted me £612 + VAT Per month for a 7 car package plus a cheapy car under £1500. Does that sound about right to everyone. Also theres an extra charge for the website which is somewhere around £100 per month?
they charge 120 plus vat for the websites which have their price indicators slapped all over them dont do it

Ignore all these guides, iControl, Retailchecker etc do your own thing. @David Horgan @Nick M.K. both are consistent. Neither of you 2 use these things do you? Time and time again I see traders who use i Control retail check struggling. Honestly better off buying stuff you want and winging it adding £2k / to the invoice price from auction that using these guides.
i have quit my autotrader contract and will just be placing a few ads with more money spent on SEO
Legal action against AT price indicators

Err i was questioning the legality of their practise? In which case its either malpractise or not, a question of law, and if its not legal or against trading standards theres no judge in the land that would bend the rules for them regardless
