What I would say to any new starter right now is the market is highly irrational so don't overpay for stock.

    Exactly this ;)

A local twat wondered why I laughed at him today, he's just bought a V10 Lambo for £120k if he left that purchase for a few months I'll bet he coulda got the same car for half that

best of luck, it can be a lot of fun but stock value is high at the moment and suggestions are... some are going to get caught holding the baby so to speak very soon when the economy crashes.

However for now, it is busy so make hay, have fun and expect your first screemer/i bought the wrong car/ the key fob battery has gone...!

    All the best : )

  3. I doubt the Fuel Cap is the cause of the EPB issue.

The reason I specifically asked if it was read on decent Dealer Level kit is that age old statement "there's only one / very few codes" that I hear on a daily basis.

This is because on an issue like this one the run of the mill Snap On, Delphi etc will not see all the Codes, the cheap OBD stuff is actually worse than useless too, only Dealer Level machines will see and do all.

This issue could be an awful lot of things, including some speed sensors, brake light switch etc etc, and as we all know just chucking bits at it is almost never a cost effective way of repairing it ;)

a red rose tuscan swiftly away at 18k, and a 996turbo away to a proper buyer at 35k, cost of ads - zero.

That's great, guess it must be a location thing, just doesn't work for me ;)

First ever car I put on there some guy rang around midday, (remember I am NW Highlands near Skye), was a nice E Class Coupe, he asked all the usual shit sounded like a Tyre Kicker but wtf ..........

He then said "I'll be round this afternoon" ......................

Yep, he was in NW London, a mere 600 + miles away :lol::lol:

specific brand group pages definitely work for lumpy stuff like tvr and porsche.

    Really ???????????????????????

I tried that recently with a nice but leggy old Merc C Class, thought that would be bang up their alley, all I got was potless dreamer fucktards :(

In the end I sold it to a local guy to break, got more than advertised on FB, he was asking if I had an engine for his Vito, that Car had same OM646 CDI in it as the Vito, so I worked the whole car into him to take the motor out of :D

  6. Ha, bet you remember old Paddy Plod he was good with newspaper, chicken wire and Mary Bakers;)

I was a dab hand with Oxy Acetylene torch and metal plate, welding sills and floors and inner sills etc etc etc on Minis Mk2 Cortinas and Mk1 Escorts when I was 13 ;)

I was in with JC Autobreakers at that time used to cut sides out of Vans they were breaking, good source of Steel Plate to make repair sections from, long before the days of Brent Auto Panels .......................

    Remember them ? .........................

Trade counter full of grease monkeys buying panels and all you got from the god Squad was "Please don't blaspheme in our premises"

I’ve never owned a car longer than a year or so and have only lost money on one (talking into account any maintenance/repairs I’ve had to do on any of them).

Well that's exactly what I was getting at, you do at least have the right track record.

I speak to many guys who start trading and are struggling, and they have never made a profit on anything, so my theory seems to be that if you can make a profit before you start Trading, then you are very likely gonna make a success and I wish you good luck.

I first bought a Car at age 16 an old MOT Failer, a Twin Cam Fiat 124 Sport Coupe ......................

I paid peanuts, was gonna keep it as my first road Legal Car, so I welded it up, got it into nice condition, tested it and then some guy wanted it so I sold it .............. Made a few hundred, and that was back in 1978, been doing that ever since, and I can honestly say that it isn't very often I make a loss, and if it is it's minimal, ;) even the most seasoned pro's get them every now and again ;)

"how to be a dealer guide"

It's all on the forum here somewhere, and yes I think there is a newbie guide done by CD Magazine, well worth it.

Answer this question honestly, it is not a trick question ...........

How many of the vehicles you have personally owned over the years have you made a profit on when you have sold them ?

    Just sayin ;)

Buying good stuff at rock bottom and completely "above board" is the only way for anyone to make money long term these days, I certainly wouldn't be starting a business right now with all the uncertainty so I wish you very good luck ;)

Midnight Drive Aways I think we called them.We would loiter at the main dealers from 11 pm waiting for the swappers we had been promised to turn up.We would also try and capture the swappers promised to others, those were the days of the ‘ bung ‘ of course .When you see the cost of auction buyers fees now and vehicle collection problems it is probably worth trawling main dealers and trying to corrupt ( sorry I mean negotiate ) with a sales manager.£200 per time ‘buyers fee ‘ might do the trick .. But can anyone tell me how you would cover your tracks because I don’t know .Replies in the private lounge thank you.

    Oh so true ;)

I had a nice tennis racket once. 'Black Ace' it was called, not sure about that.

Newspapers, which had porn halfway through, we had a Town Ace that had a tv installed, not bad in 2000.

Who didn't love a turbo timer?  Not sure why they didn't catch on.

I'm personally sick to the back teeth of face book " is this negotiable ?" NO  Whats your best price , £200 more than screen " I've got 2k max for this " its bloody £4,000 you idiot is my reply to that " Can i see this after 10pm  " yes on the web site  they are viewable 24/7 mate   , i want 6k for my px , its scrap mate and books at 4k , go away .

That's my experience anyway , others may well have more success , depends on stock profile i think as we never get a response on our more up mkt stock only the cheaper end or px to clear stuff .
