  1. I sent mine off 1st December, came back 10/12/20 TP licence renewed, cheque cashed 24th Dec .........................

Fastest renewal I've ever had IIRC ;)

I guess it all depends which actual C-19 home working dosser (or not) that your application gets sent to ????????????????????????????

f the car is nice you can get someone to hook up Multiecuscan and read the clutch degradation data and the hydraulic line pressure. That will give you an idea of transmission condition. If its good then retail it.

We have a small industrial oven for heating parts -

I built one from our old cooker :)

Saves me a bollocking from all sorts of stuff I use it to heat up :)

I also use a Burco Boiler (Tea Urn with tap) to heat up Waxoyl for spraying into cavities and undersides of cars through a modified Schutz Gun :)

This is a problem with your shift interlock.  Are the brake lights working?  If not, then suspect brake light switch or fuse...  If yes, then suspect the solenoid or the wiring to it. Check out with a multimeter. The wire can break right at the solenoid. The solenoid comes as part of the shift selector assy - its not cheap!

    /\ /\ /\ Absolutely This +1 ;)

To generalise I tend to find using the correct item that a particular part was originally designed for works just fine.

All these chav upgrades, just the same as the sort of punter who has his windscreen strewn with front & rear cameras, a satnav & any other shit he could buy from Halfords/eBay/Amazon, getting run through a 6 port cigarette lighter multiplug. All this is usually attached to the dashboard of an utter heap of shit with under inflated tyres, filthy windows & driven by a moron who the last time he looked in his mirrors saw a Cortina there.

    Abso fuckin' lutely ;)

they're all running on a knife edge and difficult to work on.

    Exactly this !! B) .....................................................................

And then you get the twunt owner, who see's the EML come on and tells everyone, "It's driving OK I don't need to spend money" until ..................... BANG !!

  7. You cannot transfer if you don't have V5 with the plate owner / retentee's name on it. V5c is no good AFAIK, don't think I've ever tried V5c

It doesn't have to be taxed, provided it is sorn'd and not been a break in any sorn it might already be on.

I do these all the time, last one was 3 weeks ago ;)

Knowing the billies like I do, I expect he doesn't want the neighbours / family to see the year of the car, with bunters like that we just bung the PP's on anyways  ................

For the 5 or so days it takes to get the V5 never had an issue with plod etc ;)

  8. I'm unsure which dealer did what here, but personally, if I were you I would get it out of the one who did the update etc, if that is where it is ;)

Be aware that unless you have another dealership who is very friendly to your business, that they will all stick together.

A good proper MB certified Indie is your best bet here.

I'll be honest with you, I wouldn't be any good as a witness   I got done for some "Vehicular ID Discrepancy" activities back in the good old days, so any lawyer for the opposition would likely fish that out in a court to discredit your case :(

Do you think the problem could be to do with this.....

If the rest of the car seems consistent with age / mileage, I'd say it's very likely ;)

These new breed of MB's really don't like software discrepancies, I really think if the first three years servicing and then subsequent mileages tally with DVLA then it is unlikely Mileage tampering, and more likely Software issues, I'd have to interrogate the Car and cross reference stuff to be absolutely sure though ;)

Do you have a record of the exact mileage at the time of the COMAND Update fiasco, that could tell the whole truth ;)

  10. Are you actually sure that this isn't a case of a bad MB dealer fucking up and then using "Tampered Mileage" as an excuse for them screwing up his ECU or whatever Module ?

Wasn't a Navi Update was it and now the whole COMAND /Dash etc is screwed up, I've had plenty folks who that's happened to by Main Dealerships, I wouldn't let them near mine, did the update myself ;)

Plenty of options here to get to the bottom of it ;)

This age of MB will store it's mileage, (well actually Km), travelled in many other Modules as well as the Cluster and ECU, the Navi HDD is a good place to start, hopefully the villain wasn't clued up enough to delete that data ;)

Get the car interrogated by an Indie MB Specialist, or a trustworthy dealer who has bang up to date SDS, you'd be surprised at what info I can access, like exactly how many Km the car had done when an event or fault happened etc etc etc ................

Does this car have COMAND with Mercedes ME, if so the figures will likely be stored on the MB cloud, and I think this is a good enough reason to justify MB circumventing Data Protection and thus releasing the data ;)

A friendly Service Manager would go a long way to helping here ;)

It could well take a few hours to dig through it all but may well be worth it.

It is a brave or extremely dumb arsed man who would tamper with the Mileage on a recent MB vehicle ;)

    HTH ;)

  11. I've got 4 Vehicles currently, all have pp's bought from DVLA, all are relevant to the specific vehicles and / or to Mel & I, my customers, friends and family all "get them" without having to ask ..................

Not one of them cost more than £300 inc transfer, and the 2 restored Cars that are in my MB Collection are same series.

If I buy a Sales Car / Chopper in with a cheapo pp on it I leave it on, unless the PO wants it back, in which case he pays the fee, or if it's left on the car it will get sold with the car ;)

I am yet to get one like D1 etc left on a vehicle, but of course if someone was that stupid, yeah I'd get it on retention and auction it off, course I would

I find a lot of these cheap meaningless Irish etc plates are put on some old tat Car by the Champagne Ideas / Lemonade Money brigade, then they tell all their neighbours etc "its a 2015 Discovery yak yak yak" or whatever.................

"Errrrrrrm, hey twat" Land Rover stopped making that model in 2009  .....................

Usually accompanied with the "Special Edition" Chinesium badge bought off Flea of the Bay

If somebody is likely to ‘pause’ their mileage they’re as likely to do it in month one of a twelve month MOT as they are in month thirteen of such an extension.

    This :)

Dodgy fleet owners are using CAN Mileage blockers anyways
