How many dealers on here are using these Dealer Management Systems and if so, are there any you would recommend.

Currently looking into Dragon2000 as they appear to have a method of importing eBay leads which is my main concern as the messaging system on there is pretty useless and they dont approve of sharing emails.

What your telling me you dont average £500 from each car you sell?

    corsa auto 07 08 models buy for £1000 £1200 sell for £1500 £1700

    same with honda jazz models

    5 cars £500 profit - £2500

    whats not to believe

any genuine advise givers out there on how to form relationships with dealers for their px cars? Its getting quite tiring sourcing cars privately and travelling 50 to 100 miles every night to buy and pick up stock

You need to drastically increase your gross margin.

    Purchase Price £1000

    Selling Price £1500

    Gross Profit £500

    Less VAT margin £83

    Less MOT £35

    Less Service £100

    Less Transport/Fuel/Time/Internet/Phone Calls £100

    Less Valet £25

    Less Warranty £60

£97 pre tax profit (plus a little VAT reclaimed), providing you don't get a screamer/claim not covered by warranty provider.

It is nowhere as easy as you have found this to be when doing it full time.

Increase your margins and retain the same numbers and you'll do ok. Welcome by the way and good luck.

There are firms that will do the fca for you for around £300

I know someone who can do the whole FCA setup for you. I think they charge £250 (no VAT) including registration charges. PM me for details of my contact.

margins are very high so happy days .

I always think this is far more important than units sold; Less cars out there going wrong with silly margins in them. It’s why I can afford and justify fixing faults that most other dealers would simply wave a wear n tear flag at.

I suspect December will finish on around 35 or so for us. In November I predicted December to scrape 20.

currently around 26 cars for the month all bar 2 collected and paid in full.  Surpassed expectations.

Where’s my chips? I need a piss

    Bang on, I absolutely agree.

"At the end of the day Mr Customer, go and try and buy a car from AT...... you can't, because they do NOT actually sell cars....... Their stupid algorithms are totally wrong and biased towards CHEAP, the private sellers or rogue trader who are selling bent falsely described death traps. If that's what you are looking for then you are looking at the wrong seller."

You’re right of course but the issue is, will these people actually engage with you in the first place or just bypass your listing because it is shown as being too expensive. Maybe time for a video explanation as part of your intros Simon?

1 in 5 is always a dog mate. That’s the only consistent ratio that’s stood up over the last 4-5 years.

I bought with my eyes open.

Tiguan with a festive dashboard and no MOT.

Obviously a few lights were for seatbelt, handbrake, a bulb out plus ABS and Traction Control. My guess is an ABS sensor or speed sensor and a bulb will have all those lights out but they were enough to scare off all the privates and plastic traders.

I've never been able to buy private - they're always knackered or too expensive

On the few occassions that I have bought out of the paper (either trader or private), I have done well but........ It takes so long.

Last Sunday, round trip to Bucks to collect one car - trip took about 6 hours there and back.

On Wednesday this week - 1 hour bidding and 5 cars won. 4 seem ok, one is a bit of a dog but I haven'y done anything with them yet as they arrived at 5.15pm last night.
