  1. Very interesting read this, wish you well at the hearing should the day come around.. I have a feeling this tool (claimant) will get some advise and they will realise how exposed they; if they dont.. Get lawgistics to give you your monies worth by ripping the claimant and judge a new ar*ehole.. Assuming it is the same clown that encouraged the claim...

On the topic of equality, we have a female prime minster... just saying like :)

I have read somewhere there are something like 10000 staff working within the EU in BRU who earn more than the UK prime minister.. quite a few on non receipted expenses too...

Autotraders dominance is coming to an end due to their self reliance on Their name.  I very rarely see them advertise and I dont even come up with my own company name on google anymore

That could be pretty importantly really, they rely on their name as a platform.. but how much do they spend with search engines to advertise and draw punters to the platform?

The lads here stating improvements who are OFF AT contracts could well be highlighting the likes of EMP/Gurus etc are all bringing in leads as these platforms are spending on advertising/clicks..

Oh to understand that ruddy vipers nest..

  3. My local Vauxhall was retailing a smart £12k CLK on the grass verge a few weeks back, the Merc dealership is within 1/2 mile of this place; they also had a 1 series on their too .. no local main stealer for BM.. The Merc lasted 10 days.. BM was around 14days

Nosing around my local VW/Audi/Vaux/Merc main stealers.. they all have around 20% other badges in the used lot.... the drop in p/ex's coming out of the back door has dried up too...

Guess it will always be so, my thought was with reducing new car sales/stock getting hard to find .. this article from back in October was highlighting the gossip on the forum at the time, stock being hard to find.. lifted a some good ones this month though.. so seems to be enough to go around right now!

I feel you pain - 11 in prep and only 6 ready.

Relying on third parties is driving me crazy

Always keep an eye open for a decent supplier, can't have enough and if you're busy you spread the work around rather one depending on you if they are quiet.. all mither though.. In house sounds good, but if you don't have/can't find anything for them to do, its all overheads... Lot of places near me need skilled workshop/paint staff, they are paying the right money too; seems to be a shortage or they can pick their work..

I had no choice but to remove the AT check, he did say they are taking all feedback on board and a lot of dealers are having the same issues so it might get tweaked in the future.

The car that was showing a discrepancy was getting a lot of interest before they introduced the check, not a single enquiry since the car was flagging up as a discrepancy on the advert and since I've had the AT check removed, I've now taken a deposit on the car.

I'm trying out motorcheck.co.uk for HPIs at the moment, £3 for a hpi check and they also have spec check. Well worth a look.

Glad to read you have got a deposit down on this vehicle now, bit scary to read you had interest, then as a result of the discrepancy it was dead... Pretty good example of how this tosh from AT can affect sales, and you would not even know if it was affecting your sales or viewers choices?...

Think its quiet? Think - what have AT changed recently if you use them..?? FFS another gremlin to swerve

Really shouldnt be that AT/Experian can upset an independent business in such a way... This thread needs passing to forum mods so a missive can go out there to AT for feedback / action and response.... and for this they want you to pay more...

We've got an old caravan down the back of the yard so we've taken on a dominatrix and offer our older male punters her services if they are looking for an extra experience!

Used to visit a place in Miami, The Hands on Car Wash... The staff were great, bikinis, flip flops and soapy sponges.. My hire car was always cleanest when returning, it got washed every other day... Washing the roof was my favourite bit.... I am sure this would work in the UK...

We have 2 cars showing "mileage discrepancy" but I cannot see a discrepancy in the mileage it's flagging up!

Also had this message today regarding a PX we took in last week and decided to retail, we cleared the finance on handover:

"Is it still available? Is there any outstanding finance on this vehicle please? Autotrader suggests there may be. I would like to know this before l decide to travel from Hereford to look/test drive"

Although I'm happy with the cost saving I think this could potentially cost a deal or at least deter some of our leads so will have to think about keeping it in place.

Not fit for purpose as it is, I cant imagine a billy accepting any explanation over discrepancies if the report they have warns them on such a crucial topic... AT will only change things if people ditch the service.. I was appalled to read above the Experian "didnt consider the discrepancy to mean that much" resulting in them refusing to investigate..

Smacks of not fit for purpose at both ends.... but now introduced and being charged for.. all about protecting the consumer - my arse, all about another income stream..

Let the AT reps feed it back that users are walking..

  9. this thread has a lot of advice, noisy neighbours / councils responding.. five pages but worth a read! Maybe contact the OP for a little more detailed advice out of the public domain!

Good luck with your unit, as said above.. as much as you can afford.. you will always use it..!  Here is that link Trading from home G'luck

    Thank you both

This is the car Dave https://www.imperial-marques.co.uk/cars/mercedes/slk/slk200kompressorauto/236608/

I will be sending it to my auto electrician, he is great.  Wouldn't trust the workshop folk though.

I saw that one Dave, nice fitment but the delivery date fucks things up (alot).

    UPDATE:

Spoken to them and they have the model up unit in for next working day delivery - thanks all.

Great result, one impressed punter somewhere down the line... Make sure the bonnet catch is working!

  11. Not really sure why any fair and reasonable trader, as seems to be represent here on the forum, would even get caught up in any "unfair contracts act" disputes..

So long as the CRA is amended/added too in a fair a reasonable way, the vehicle is as you would like it yourself and prep'd correctly.. Where is the issue..?

To me this only starts when you get some smart arse wanting to create their own rules and laws.. and not abide by those a trader is governed by. and/or take the p*ss..

Dont like the T&C's dont buy it... simples. As mentioned above

I follow them.....the owner is not to everyone's taste but they have beautiful stock and turn it quick. He is the premier specialist in the marque and good luck to him. I know scots guys who have sold their cars down there based on them being the market leader and the first port of call for a sale.

I'd guess thats the same as finding the stock that works for you and then hunting that stock down... takes time but you will also become known as the dealer who always has a decent motor... specialist/4x4 or whatever... One thing for sure, just stay way from volume/car supermarket tut...

Any idea how RS Direct in Yate, Bristol manage to get their hands on so many privately owned RS stock ?

Hoover up everything on owners forums ?

More than likely is my guess, advertise on the RS owners webshite etc? Become known as the buyer to sell too with no hassles... ?? If the cars are straight, priced right can be win win

They will remove all options to check a vehicle if you choose to opt out. Not a problem as we have an HPi account but surely a bit silly on their part. He was fuming and reckons they didn't think it through or trial it properly before launch. Now who'd have thought such a thing.

SO true, I wonder how many of these so called improvements have been run by any indie trader with the knowledge on how this problem may occur... I remember years ago there was a term was BETA TESTING .. this is where new software was given to a few geeks who enjoyed testing for errors but also worked in a particular sector.... This aimed to iron out the bugs...

However, it now seems many businesses just throw the "new" programme on the market for the market to iron out the bugs..  shabby.. lets them employ call centre staff reading scripted answers too.. and by the sound of it embarrass sales staff in front of clients!

    Market leaders, innovation.. my ar*e....

  15. Dave do you know any of the INV stealerships, just wondering if they have a regualr supplier who is shuttling between GLA and INV? If so perhaps you can get an empty leg/space on a transporter to do this collectin/drop for you? Failing then Shiply should produce some offers.. but may take a while given the region!

LMFAO Stick around, you'll see far better digressions (and transgressions ) than my mediocre efforts, there are some guys here who are masters of the art :)

My computer screen often gets coffee spat at it followed by side splitting laughter ;)

I agree, what I would do here is, (if after the inspection I was certain it had been sabotaged), I'd offer a refund, less 45 pence per mile covered, and less the cost of repairing whatever said sabotage came to !!

If there was ensuing threats etc I would then tell the punter to "Go forth and do your worst".

Just make sure you cover all the bases and scenarios !!

Thankfully I don't get these sort of morons these days, one of the many reasons I upped sticks, sold up and moved to a remote area ;)

Yeah, over the years there is now a few that have infiltrated up here, but I choose not to do business with them, can sniff them out a mile off :D

Agree Dave. All an education to us all I suspect, if only we could pick our customers.. but a sale is a sale.. however as you grow older, see more.. you can sniff the wasters and w*ankers a mile off..  In this case I never up my sales game.. a sale is a sale - agreed.. but not at any cost; I'm not in this to waste my time, so I am definitely not trying to waste the time of any silly billy.. Document it.. all of it, recorded post.. That's your audit trial and if anyone gets lawyered up... yours will welcome this evidence of your fair and reasonable attempts to remedy matters..

Do let us know how it pans out, another day and another "tool in the box" of a motor trader...
