I do advertise with them and have been for many years. We try and monitor where our enquiries come from and I would say that on average probably 80% of our sales come from them. I did cancel them last year but didn't even make the full month without them because it was like a tap had been turned off. We are also on Cargurus and Ebay. Nothing would make me happier than kicking them into touch but I don't think I would survive with the few deals that come from elsewhere

    +1

FB Marketplace is the new gumtree. Absolutely great for disposing of PX shitters.

He's damn right, not much potential for full price retail stuff but OK as a "bangers 4 cash" outlet.

At least a couple of years ago I tried to join the advanced forum in the way specified by sending proof of trading. Never heard a squeak. It wasn't important, so I forgot about it I guess. I remembered about it this morning, so did the same again, proof on MT insurance etc...again...not a dickie bird.

Its not a big deal, but being ignored twice...pretty rude really.

Same here.......... Done it once, never heard a thing.

The trouble is the average Billy Bunter doesn’t read or understand that.

Certainly on cars up to £5K the lack of any warranty isn’t a problem here.

I guess if you feel a warranty is gaining you custom then they’re worth it but very rarely am I even asked about them.

Wish my customers were like this, to be honest I do too much just to get people out of my hair sometimes....... Too nice I suppose, even though it really cheeses me off.

January, February and March best start to the year ever for us April wasn't to bad but this month has died with only 4 sold and to top it off with the last price brigade can only see it being the worst month of the whole year I am hoping it will pick up. Diesel now are a no for us as the new emissions charges come in to Leeds January 2020 and other parts of the country so we have started to buy a few hybrids and to be honest they are having the most interest but not cheap stock as lots of dealers are doing the same

Funny enough I had an auris hybrid, all it attracted was foreign gentlemen from the Yorkshire area (taxi drivers) due to the impending changes. Glad to get shot of it after over 100 calls and not 1 viewing.

Stone chip on a bonnet will not make any difference to a modern day buyer’s decision.

If they walked away it WASN’T because of one stone chip on a bonnet.

I’ve never steamed cleaned an engine bay in the 14 years I’ve been selling cars and it definitely hasn’t lost me much (if any) business.

Get some water in an engine ECU, let if freeze overnight, see what happens:-)

Back last year I had a fussy punter who  wanted the engine bay cleaned due to some leaves and general dirt, just to humour him I told the valeter to do it all by hand and don't put the lance in there at any time........... Now does he spend 20 mins picking out all the dirt and debris or take the easier and quicker option of being a jet wash warrior and just go at it hammer and tongs with his karcher. As soon as I turned my back he took option number 2 which I wasn't aware of until Mr cussy funt customer broke down with loads of dashboard lights coming on. Turned out water had got into one of the ecu's, had to be sent away not once but twice and all this time the punter is telling me how he's lost confidence in the car, wants his money back blah blah blah. Felt like telling him that it's all his fault in the first place as cleaning them in the first place is just asking for trouble.

We charge an admin fee of £150 if the customer arranges there own finance, this covers the time spent required for new set ups when some companies want pictures of premises inside and out and proof of where the car came from etc etc, It’s designed to sway them more to use the finance we provide

We also charge a £25 admin fee for any card payments (excluding deposits) this is to encourage customers to pay via bank transfer which means we get the money faster or good old fashioned kesh:)

Not really had many people moan about it tbh.

I'm all for getting the money faster Mark but be careful, anyone that knows the law can make a quick call to TS and it could really open up a can of worms.

  8. TG..... My own vehicle had just been written off as a cat s for light to moderate front damage which baffles me. New bonnet, headlight, bumper plus some other parts etc, van drove into me on a single track road when I had stopped. I thought it would be an "n" but nope, no airbags went off and I will now buy it back and repair it myself. It's a 9 year old 325d, getting 8k from insurance and buying it for £1400 salvage value. Come resale time I know the "s" marker will affect it more than an "n" would but I'll document all the damage and provide pics etc to any prospective buyer, I'm adamant that it shouldn't be an "s" but it's not my decision unfortunately.

Many thanks guys, it's interesting to hear no one is having it away with the mainstream tackle. That's why I'm keeping away from it! Not that dealing in specialist stuff is exactly easy at the moment. I've just bought a Jag XK with an unexpected problem, time will tell if it's going to be a major headache or not! In the old days, I used to buy a few with their EMLs on. These days, I'm buying without any warning lights only for one to come on 30 seconds after driving out the gates!

Exactly this! Within 7 miles they come back on if they have been knocked off before they enter the ring! Boils my piss.

  10. Done loads of these on the 1 series and 3 series, some at low miles too. Poor design, would be difficult to know when buying from the block but I'll bet my bottom dollar that's why it was in the ring in the first place.

Remember, you can turn the AT tap back on within minutes if enquiries dry up.  30 days to cancel though - not daft are they.

I asked you about this the other week when you said you were cancelling Mark, in another 2 months or so I'll be in touch to see how it's gone as I'm definitely looking to reduce my outgoings

  12. Grant, seeing my £3300 a month bill going out of the bank really boils my piss, I've been thinking about doing it for a while but fear the enquiries will dry up and haven't had the balls to do it. Definitely interested to hear how you do over the next 3 months and I will certainly make a decision should your situation be positive. As David said, keep us updated please.

It did me too but does that actually mean, they are flat out and abiding to their reputation as liars?

I read it as even the ones who are always flying (best buyers, best sellers, best site blah blah blah) are quiet even though they are always ripping up trees!
