  1. Been rife this week, people thinking shitters should all have full history no marks or scratches.

58 fezza, 71k good condition.... customer says well its missed a service few scratches and its clearly had a dog in it at some stage, my reply yes it most likely has. not sure what you are hinting at here ?

its a 10 year old fiesta up at £3495 can I ask what you expected it to be like ?

his answer, well I have just seen a 63 plate one with less miles and in better condition, for only £3k more.  if I were you I would buy that one.

arrrghh cant wait for this week to end.

  2. Todays gem of a phone call.

Hi you've got a vitara automatic it looks to be about £1000 over priced.... that's his opening line.

I ask how he feels its overpriced ? oh I saw loads cheaper on autotrader... you may have seen loads cheaper on autotrader.......but they wont have been the spec mileage and model we have as only 5 of those are advertised on autotrader and ours is priced the second cheapest. the other being £200 less.

never mind that he says... how much you knocking off for cash buyer... we wouldn't discount that car as its near impossible stock to replace..

well I wouldn't buy a car from someone at full price. oh ok sorry to hear that then but you wont be buying this one then. anything else I can do for you today..... phone went dead.

The boys just reminded me of a vicar we had come in once to buy a car, paid a deposit seemed like a decent enough chap, his daughter and husband came in the next day almost in tears with dad in the car, poor guy had alchermizers and forgot he couldn’t drive anymore bought the car for him and his wife sadly his wife passed away three years ago.

    Such a sad tale.

    oh man that's a heartbreaker

  4. that's the thing, he is nice enough and I wouldn't mind if he said I just like cars and wanted to have a look about, but he *seems like he is trying to buy one * and he clearly has no intention on buying so its this charade of I explain every thing he listens asks the same stuff makes an excuse comes back 2 weeks later and pretends he hasn't been in before.

I guess we are in sales and its part of the job.

  5. We keep having a bloke doing this over and over again on our cheap 4x4's

anything under 4k and petrol he rocks up asks to have a look around it about the history and the usual questions, thing is he has done this about 15 times now and he is pleasant enough but I am at a point now where I really cant keep having the same conversation over and over again every time he comes in.

the last time he did this the car was immaculate full history drove great literally no reason to not buy, but his words something just doesn't feel right about it.

would I be harsh next time he comes in by saying Sorry sir but im not prepared to discuss any of the cars with you as you don't actually seem to want to buy a car you just seem curious.

anyone ban a customer well he isn't a customer because he has never bought from us. I mean have you banned anyone from your showroom ?

  6. I mean this name isn't really real surely ?

    Mr Frimply Farquhar

not sure if I am breaking any GDPR regulations by putting that but not a chance in the world that's a real person.

    another bizarre enquiry.

Can someone explain to me why so many of the ex-Motability cars are less than 18 months old ?

Surely there is some kind of minimum term contract ?

a lot of they are getting the award taken off them, quite a few stricter tests now on who can have motab.

  8. we usually get decent cars from motab, the odd bad one.

but this was just abused and clearly it was like they deliberately tried to damage or make the car as untidy as possible, I just feel somewhere down the line they should be brought to task over it.

  9. had one this morning, enquiry on a used Jimny,

odd name, just the usual im interested in your vehicle

emailed back, email back said....looking for an automatic one. replied this is a manual and has always been would you like me to find you a auto one ?

response no leave it I have changed my mind.

also the guy was 200 miles from us. quality lead that if it was real which I doubt

  10. We have just bought an ex motab car which arrived this morning....

delivered on a wagon which was unusual.... came to check the car off and I can only describe the condition of the interior as toxic. ( not described in the report )

I have never seen such a disgusting interior stains everywhere, sticky material piles of rubbish and the smell was unbearable, even our valeter has refused to move the car and wont attempt to clean it ( don't blame him ) so we will sending it back, I cannot understand how people let their cars get like this just from a hygiene point of view also, if this person had bought the car to us for a service we would have refused due to its condition.

anyone have similar experiences with foul interiors.

    yesterday

speaking to a very nice chap and i told him i only like to sell to people i like as it cuts down on the moaners

he said well i hope you like me because i want to buy this car

yes i said i do like you and we did a deal

i honestly try not to sell to people i dont like because you just know that if they arent nice today they wont be any better tomorrow

Well said, had a gentlemen last week say to us..... I am a very hard man to deal with not easy to please so you had better be prepared, I am quite well known for being difficult amongst you dealers.

Oh ok Sir.... well I think we wont have any difficulty with you as I don't believe we would want to sell you a car if you are like that.

he was actually stunned by this answer haha

other than him this week. most very pleasant this week.

  12. I needed a new car after my old one had broken down on me and the staff at autotrade south west were able to arrange a test drive for me as a 'walk in' customer and then prepare the car for delivery within a matter of days. That included delivering the car to my office so that I didn't have to take time off to collect it. I was amazed at how efficient these guys are. For a customer that was in need of a vehicle quickly these guys made sure I went for a vehicle that was right for me and made the whole process stress free. I am very happy with the end result and I will definitely be using autotrade south west in the future!

    one of their *reviews*

hmmm slightly suspicious looking at them lol

We sell the odd one or two a month off them. Lots of BS enquiries but always worth a reply because you never know.

We don't pay to be on there so it must be a free package we're on.

same as us, the odd sale but mainly emails sent in and they never respond to us after the initial enquiry.

cant expect much more for free.
