  1. I’m pretty certain if you get water in your engine it’s a gonna. Water doesn’t combust so the valves and pistons would get bent, I think?? Dave would know for sure!
  2. Gotta add a few quid to the price!!!
  3. Good news James! It’s got some history, 5 services recorded on the Hyundai DWR System. PM’d you
  4. Yes they do, it’s called DWR.
  5. If you give me the reg. number, I’ll have a word with a friend at a Hyundai dealership, it might have some history on their DWR system. (Ditgal Work Record)
  6. Used to know/dealt with, a guy called Lester Stacey, LJ Motors in Eccleshall nr Stafford. He was a lovable rogue putting it politely!! He used to buy a lot of high mileage ex Swan National lease cars in the late 80’s early 90’s. Mainly Citroen Xantias. And always had lots of French stock, probably 80-100 cars. I remember looking through his stock list, around 1995/96, and he had a 1987/8 D or E reg 90k Silver 1.9 D Citroen BX, 5dr on for something like £1995, nothing particularly unusual about that, apart from the fact it’d been in stock for over 5 years!!!! Was very high mileage when he took it in, about average when it was eventually sold in late 1996!!!! I don’t think it made it to a 6th birthday on the pitch!
  7. Probably a couple more years yet
  8. Yeah, I hear you met, but these guys are on another planet. I can't help but be amazed by their skills, unbelievable really how they fabricate, weld, grind etc. It's been 5 years since they started, but they are so accurate and don't cut corners. I'm constantly saying "wow"
  9. I think in that instance, I'd have waited until you sold the car, and charged the next customer the remaining 4 or 5 months tax, they'd have no doubt got a few days for free as i'm sure you'd only charge for the remaining full months, and would have saved putting an extra keeper on the V5. Horses for courses, just what i'd have done, and just stood the month or twos tax cost.
  10. I’d do it as Tony suggested. First customer has taxed so DVLA happy, 2 buyer pays you the tax money, you refund 1st customer so he’s happy, then send V5 a few weeks later when you’re happy to do so. 1st customer happy, 2nd customer happy and taxed and DVLA happy! Job done.
  11. Seeing as it’s soooo quiet everywhere, get on to YouTube and search for Project Binky!! Nick and Richard run an Engineering Company called Bad Obsession Motorsport in Shropshire, and are engineering geniuses! Project Binky is going to be the fastest Mini in the world!! They are putting the engine and 4wd drive system from a Celica GT4 into 1980’s Mini !! There’s 19 episodes and they’re still not finished, but if you’re interested in projects, this is a must watch!
  12. I had a similar thing many years ago. A couple came and looked at a Pink, yes Pink, Accent Auto, it was very clean, tidy, low mileage. Drove it, loved it, price was right. But wanted to think it over. Later that day another couple came in, bought straight away. The next morning the first couple ring up, and want it, sorry sold yesterday! WHAT!! WHY DIDNT YOU RING US TO SAY THERE WAS SOMEONE ELSE INTERESTED????? Er................. Unlucky!
  13. Have fixed this yet Nick? Was it the selector position sensor?
  14. I’ve seen a fair few posts slating some dealers selling knackers on Dealer Auction. I thought I’d post something a little more positive. I’ve bought a few from Holdcroft Group in Stoke On Trent, through DA, and have to say the service I’ve received has been excellent (And the cars to!). Steve Walker is the manager there, and seems a very straight chap. Cars and paperwork are always available, no messing, no waiting, descriptions are spot on, even over described sometimes. Hopefully there are a few more decent dealers out there to?
  15. i10 1.0 SE 2014-17 is only insurance group one, so can’t get any lower insurance grouping for 1st timer. Great spec to, A/C, Cruise, and of course 5 year warranty and AA cover from new, so won’t cost you anything if they get a problem!
  16. Overpriced, crap to drive, and unreliable. I’d go for an i10 everyday of the week and twice on Sundays! What Car Best City car of the year 3 years in a row.
  17. I'd been in the job as a Sales Consultant for a couple of years, early 2000's, had a guy and his wife make an appointment to test drive a used Sonata. Came on time asked the right questions, made the right noises so thought I was on to a winner. Went out for a drive, and we started on our usual test drive route, but they wanted to go a certain way, fine. They'd also brought their 6 mth old baby along, and so I'm sitting in the back with the little bundle of joy, again fine. Then they turn into a side street and pull up. Both get out and say we've just got to pop into that house for a minute! So now there's just me and a baby in the back of a Sonata!!! Half an hour goes by, and they reappear, turns out they'd been to view the property, obviously couldn't find a babysitter so decided to use me!!! Needless to say they didn't buy the Sonata, not sure about the house!!!! He came in a couple of times of the next few years, cheeky t**t, so I just blanked him, I think he got the message. One of my colleagues had a lady ring and enquire about the i30 range, and would it be possible to take one to her house so she could have a look and a drive. Of course, being the lovely kind of people we are, my colleague takes the car over as requested. The lady asks if she can test drive the i30 back to our dealership, great! My colleague thinks that's a good sign, she wants to talk numbers / deal! WRONG, she arrives at the dealership gets out, says thanks, and wonders across the road to Enterprise Rent A Car to collect for hire car!! Free taxi service!!!
  18. I'm guessing you mean legally? How do you legally bring it back? Either get it delivered or you will need a set of trade plates.
  19. Renault, Alfa, Fiat (Fix It Again Tomorrow), LandRover (Expensive Parts and generally unreliable). I'd say Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, etc will cause you the least amount of hassle! Ford and Vauxhall always popular, and cheap to repair. Good Luck
