Blenheim Car Sales 111 Posted May 12, 2020 Collected a 2010 Kuga, Obviously has the remote control on the key fob for getting into the car and off course once in the car you just press the start button as long as the fob is in the car somewhere, My car was said to have had a dead key battery because the remote control entrance was not working (CL was working just not off the fob) and once in the car i had the dash message "key not present" so i had to remove the blade from the key fob and insert it into the ignition like a traditional key, Then the push button start would start. I have since changed the battery in the remote and there is still no life from it at all, I suspect i have the wrong remote for the car but the correct blade for the ignition, In the messages display i still have "key not present" permanently displayed on the dashboard messages. so my question is.............................. are there specialists out there who can provide me with a replacement remote, Programmed for remote central locking and one that would allow keyless push button start where i do not have to place the blade into the ignition as i do now ??? I have in the past thought this was dealer only at a cost of over £200 + because of the immobilizer codes issue not being available to the coding specialist ?? I am in Wolverhampton in case there is someone who knows doing this service
Dave2302 387 Posted May 12, 2020 Hi, AFAIK, (haven't done Kuga Keys), but AFAIK, it must be the correct Key Fob, to even Start off the Blade, it is just there are 2 separate internal Functions ....................... There is a Chip inside which requires NO Batteries at all, which is used to un immo and so start via the blade ..................... The batteries work the RF Circuits in the Key, which does stuff like Locking / Unlocking, Keyless Start (KG) Global Open / Close (if fitted) etc etc. I would say that this Key Fob has a dead Circuit Board which will affect the RF, likely a Washing Machine victim You need to find an Indie Vehicle Locksmith in your area, i believe there used to be a decent guy in Brum, but it's been a while, hopefully someone else will chip in here Other than that it's pay the FORD Piper I take it you have checked all fuses on the Car that might be affecting the RF Reception, or at least Scan the bugger with Forscan or IDS to see if there is anything pertaining to Key Data, or lost Comms etc HTH, Cheers Dave
Blenheim Car Sales 111 Posted May 12, 2020 Thanks for your advice, You know i have not as yet checked the obvious, It may be a fuse you are right, i will have a look, this does sound expensive though
Halfpenny 114 Posted May 12, 2020 You have two faults - the remote control circuit not working (could be bad contacts on the battery or the push buttons) and you have a missing/faulty transponder chip - this is a small passive (no battery) chip the size of a big rice grain. Normally the transponder chips are very reliable so (1) check it is not missing, (2) check the inductive pick up system in the car is working (may need diagnostic reader and go to Ford for that). Dave2302 387 Posted May 13, 2020 He doesn't have 2 faults, his Transponder Chip must be working or it wouldn't start at all, (says it starts with KEY BLADE INSERTED) You are right in as much as the RF Circuitry is not working, hence remote locking don't work and it doesn't start using KG Starter Button !! HTH,

HTH, Yes. Sorry. I mistakenly read it as car wouldn't start.......
