TangoVictor32 90 Posted October 26, 2019 (edited) Hi folks We got a Golf 2013 plate and the water bottle gets empty every so often even when it's standing still. Took it to a vag specialist and they said the heater matrix was full of gunk and they flushed it out and found now source of leak. The heaters werent getting hot enough but they are now. The leak has stopped for now. Does anyone know if this is a common issue and could even cause a leak? Edited October 26, 2019 by TangoVictor32
MarkTVS 209 Posted October 26, 2019 Have the garage done a pressure test on it since?
Stalker 180 Posted October 26, 2019 The gunk is from the coolant bottle (it has a little section in the bottle with a sealant type solution) and heater matrix do get blocked very easily with the said solution. Water pumps leak for fun usually. Vag specialist should know that.

Grantlfc81 88 Posted October 31, 2019 Need a pressure test doing and you want to hope it’s not head gasket. Bang some steel seal if you even have the slightest inclination it’s head gasket.
