Audi A5 S tronic, the reliable one

Andy, there is a VAG specialist in Benton, two ex Audi master techs. They are next door to Austrin Engineering (auto gearbox specialist). Have you spoke to them?

Is that swift?

Shame these VW group boxes don’t seem to be getting any better.  Have at least 4 client cars in this week having either DMF or gearbox control failures under warranty.

We are also getting lots of complaints about the 1.5 150bhp Evo engine doing kangaroo impressions so it could be one to watch in the future.

I’ve got a Q5 s tronic sitting in the corner of my place. Sitting being the operative word. Going nowhere. I think i’ve got to retail my way out of the gearbox issues but it’s £2500. There’s also a small chance that i’ll need a mechatronic unit if the strip down and new clutch packs don’t do the trick.

The mechatronics can be refurbed james, there’s plenty of firms online who do it and they come back with lifetime warranty. As you know I’m an expert with these gearboxes now lol! Clutch packs is a big problem, I didn’t get much change out of £2k for mine on the Allroad. Mech units tend to store fault codes in the ecu, whereas the clutch packs don’t.

Yes mate, sadly there are no codes on VAGCOM. Pretty sure it’s clutch pack.

The last one I had was showing no codes but was “grabbing” when you came to a halt, tried the service and reset with no joy
