twerp 69 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) 2012 car with 70k Drives lovely, FSH , new cambelt 1k ago but sounds terrible when cold and even when warm reving to 2300rpm sounds like knocking on top. Never had one before, are they all rattly? Edited July 21, 2018 by twerp
Row 71 Posted July 21, 2018 I would get the injectors checked first job maybe over or under fueling
Stalker 180 Posted July 21, 2018 These are quite easy to time up wrong if you don’t put the pin in the crank when doing the timing belt. Also not sure what kind of a noise it is but the tappets are a manual adjustment jobbie on these engines and rarely get checked and adjusted.
twerp 69 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) Arghh sounds complicated for all its worth Thanks Edited July 22, 2018 by twerp

Yeah, agreed /\ /\ /\ PITA job, there is no Key on the Crankshaft Timing Belt Pulley, so it moves as soon as you remove the Bottom Pulley Bolt to take the Cover off. This is one Cam Belt you simply can't do without correct tools
twerp 69 Posted July 22, 2018 Ok thanks - worth checking timing on Renault Clip scanner ? What do you make of air in the fuel feed. I was wondering if that / leaking injector was responsible ?
Dave2302 387 Posted July 22, 2018 Hi, not sure if Clip can read crank to cam synch, I've not had mine long and haven't used it in anger yet is there a fuel primer bulb near filter ? I've had them cause air on 05 / 06 vintage
