Taxing car with no V5

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I swear I used to be able to tax a car with a V62 at my local post office, now I can no longer seem to do it, sold two cars this week without log books, very frustrating.

Anyone know of a way of taxing a car without the V5 or green slip?

Thanks

The post office should do it. The DVLA website even states this.

Thanks

The car won’t be in trade as the V5 was lost, I’ll phone DVLA on Monday and see what they say.

Andymc is correct. If it’s “in trade” you can tax it at the post office, if it’s not then save yourself the bother of phoning the DVLA & just apply for a new log book and wait. There’s nowt else you can do.

If you buy a car without a V5 best check and see if it is still taxed. If it is then customer has lost the V5 as they can’t get a refund without it.

i applied for one on the 8th of Feb. Had a letter last week saying it should be processed this week.

I Had this issue a while ago, it seemed as though the staff at our local post office didn't know how to do it, i went back when a more experienced consultant was available and they sorted it swiftly, taxed it instantly and applied for a V5 using a V62 at the same time.
