2002 Mercedes E270 with brake message - Any ideas?

Recommended Posts

Recently taken one of these in as a part exchange and considering keeping it as a smoker, Its got the dreaded error message from the SBC unit though.

Anyone had any experience of getting the error message removed, reset, or a place to locate a replacement unit? Forums suggest that it can be reset, my local Merc specialist chap suggested going to main dealer and seeing if there is any goodwill available. Not sure about this though as it hasn't got any history.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, even if you think the best thing to do would be to get rid and throw it n the ring!

Hi,

we had one of these a while ago the warning message flashes up after so many thousand pushes on the brake pedal. We got a guy to come round and reprogramme it rather than a very expensive replacement of the abs unit. Of the top of my head was a couple hundred quid but there are plenty of people who can do it. Silly design I must say.

Counters on brake pedal can only be reset if it hasn't been done before most indys shy away from this generation of E class when it comes to brake assist visit workshop messages and unsurprisingly so as a real pain in tits.
