I wiped many an oil cap on a vauxhall but sadly this times its the real deal This one was full on, no coolant and loads of pressure from the tank when I opened it, smelt of petrol fumes and the oil is like milkshake.

I think it depends on what profit margin your after. I ignore all the guides most of the time. I see what I would retail the car for and work a margin in. I agree some cars make crazy money, I was up Aston Barclay today, managed 3, one had a blown headgasket, great!! Sometimes cars cap quite low and are way out sometimes. we would all be way better off if we could buy cap on most.

I certainly wouldn't give in and give a refund. if the car has passed the mot just recently then I'm sure it's fine. Halfords are known to find faults which don't exist to get extra revenue. perished prob shaft bushes are bound to be worn on a car of that age but perfectly serviceable. I see no grounds for a refund. time we got tougher with piss taking customers. 99% are as good as gold but there is always someone

Had this loads of time on this newer 6 cylinder. on the front of the engine are 2 big vanos solenoid. remove them both and soak them in petrol for 15 mins. there is a 10mm bolt on each. they just pull out but make sure you get the rubber seal out aswell. alternatively take a look on Google and there is a diy on there

Yeah I've always found the later higher mileage ones fly out...
