James you are so polite. I would not have handled that as well as you did. Over the texts or with his mother. But then I most probably would have insulted him with a £50 scrap offer on Friday night. As for his mothers mouth sounds like another old banger.

repair companies Scuff-Scratch-Alloys Repair
Econimotor replied to Nick's topic in General Dealer Chat
I always put mine into local bodyshop. And by using them for all paintwork etc always get good deal and good job. Usually takes 3 - 5 days to turnaround which is acceptable to me and can normally fit in with alongside other work. The Bodyshop I use also refurb alloys and also get bad headlights like new as well, so all under 1 roof. If you use them enough prices are always keen. Go talk to some and take car with you that needs work to get priced. Paint is very tempremental. With this weather & time of year to be done outside in my opinion must be a no. I have seen smart repairs paintwork that is very flat and some just put layers of polish on to make it look good. No doubt there are some good quaility smart repairers out and about. Good body repairs take years of practice not a 1 month Franchise course, But as the saying goes. you pay your money you make the choice. But its bodyshop for me every time. Jim -
Warranty Companies " Who do you choose " total loss of faith
Econimotor replied to Mislead's topic in General Dealer Chat
Hi Mislead Selling 100 cars a year if your warranty cost are say £85 per car for 6 months = total cost of £8,500 per year have your customers claimed that in warranty claims in last year? if not you may be better looking into your own warranty. I am keeping a close eye on mine at the moment. But I dont use the above mentioned company. Also appreciate that using outside warranty provider takes some of the headache away and some customer prefer outside warranty as opposed to in house. Anyone else have any thoughts on warranties ie Lawgistics in house warranty as this looks like a decent option. Jim -
Hi All I also cancelled AT and my last advert was 1 week ago. I advertise on other platforms as mentioned above. Last week sold a Jeep within 2 days through different advertising platform and also a Vauxhall Meriva that I just could not sell through AT. Had Meriva ( Low Mileage 2 owner & service history ) that long it put me of buying anymore of them tried all AT variations their price, Rounding up, Rounding down, Put what I wanted and 12 month Warranty, Guy told me it was 12 month warranty sold it to them Definately worth trying elswhere also you can always do pay per advert with AT. Just look on Lowest AT package @ £600 per month thats = 12 adds on pay as you go. Also how many cars you need to sell per week on AT basic package. My personal opinion is pay as you go is most prob better ROI. others may disagree. With Motors does anyone know if they count cars that are sold in the numbers of cars on landing page. I personally dislike sold cars being on site others may use as reference to sell theirs. But Hey Ho we are all different thankfully. Any other thoughts? Jim

Sale of Goods Act 2015...Changes who's heard the news?
Econimotor replied to Trident's topic in General Dealer Chat
HI Guys Last week our local trading standards office put on a seminar regarding new SOGA 2015. They stated to us the right to reject within 30 days falls upon the customer to prove that the fault was there at time of sale. To do this they must at their own expense obtain a written Motor Engineers report stating that the fault was there at point of sale. WRITTEN!!! After 30 days it is dealers responsability to prove the fault was not there at point of sale. And that we should pre empt this scenario by conducting a New Mot and a full PDI inspection prior to sale. They didnt say a service was needed but a service and stamped service booklet will certainly help to. If we do this then you can prove that fault was not there at point of sale. I am using 2 independants for MOT and 2 Independants for PDI. Work together to achieve this with someone in your area or do in house. I am using independants as then I have no conflict of interest. Also any faults pointed out to customer and the customer knowingly accepts these faults they have no recourse. Should we do these things then we would not be looked upon as a rogue trader. Many of you no doubt already do these or most of it. Which then brings into the frame ROI. BUY RIGHT, DO RIGHT, SELL RIGHT, Then we all will be getting a good ROI. Happy days. Just one other point to make to pain in the butt customer under the new SOGA the party that lost any court case is lible for all court costs legal expenses of both parties. This new act could actually benefit us its not all doom and gloom. Jim
