  1. Im still seeing some cars advertised on the roadside and the advert clearly states ..the normal MOT and TAX .. as you say only a matter of time for the clampers now!
  2. Hello russp I was thinking this myself as anyone can tax a car online and you dont have to be the registered keeper to do so and if the previous owner has declared the car sold to the DVLA and got thier refund then what happens to the tax you have applied to the car whilst in trade? as yes you cant get the refund yourself as your not the registered keeper so i can only presume the remaining amount of the tax is left to the DVLA to which you as the seller can only put the cost of the tax you have previously paid for on the asking price im guessing to help refund your money that way
  3. I was wondering if the new tax rule from October 1st would deter (some) private buyers from attending the car auctions if the following was introduced I just thought it might be a good idea if the auction centres could bring in that their policy is to tax the car before it is allowed out of the premises and on the road. this could simply be done via the DVLA online service in seconds and then and of course the cost of the tax be added to the final price of the car at point of payment .. being as you dont always have to be the registered owner of the car to tax it the auction house could still tax it and of course then any refund at a later date go to the new owner when the logbook is returned via the DVLA The reason is im just thinking this would certainly stop the private buyer wanting to use the car direct from the auctions or waiting to the start on the next calender month or even onward for any period of time with no tax as it doesnt now have to be placed in the windscreen .. so then deter some private buyers from attending if they knew that the road tax had to now be paid before the car can be driven away ... just an idea?
  4. Im sure this will certainly make an impact and if someone is selling 3 4 5 cars a month it will be difficult .. where as if someone is selling the odd car or maybe half a dozen a year then i suspect you would just register the car in your name by sending the logbook off and then wanting reselling straight after all you would do is simply go to the post office pay the tax and then sell and get the refund after. Yes there will be another owner on the logbook but all other cars will be in the same boat as well if registered and sold after The most important thing is if you are selling a car then make sure you send the logbook off with the new keepers details as dont give the logbook to the new keeper to do so
