haha , yes mr taliban we can machine guns posts to that order for you .

Been some back hand deals somewhere in the world hasn't there to get as many Hilux 4x4 's that they have , like a constant Toyota advert on the news , Certainly been some dodgy deals or maybe its a case of Sell me Hilux or I'll make you disappear .

Perhaps thats what governments should do in future. Instead of sending high level operatives into third world countries under cover to check on military strength they should just ask the local Toyota dealer if anyone’s ordered any new Toyota flat bed trucks?

I remember them days, drive to the local office take your number, wait your turn and someone would sort you out, sorted.

Anything government related these days is a total shambles absolutely shocking but what choice do you have and they know that.

I remember those days. Local office was a day out. Drive there, long queue, boring wait. But talking to a real person ‘eye to eye’ always got a result. when they shut the local offices it was always going to be a nightmare?

If he is not the registered keeper, then how have they found his details?

They’ll just send letters to all previous, and work through. These things can bounce around in the system for ages. It’s like that children’s game of pass-the-parcel. Except nobody wants to unwrap it when the music stops.:)

Its a broad generalisation but the days of chancing upon a Copart car which has easy-to-repair body damage (and a handful of other, normal issues) at a bargain price is pretty much over, there's so many hobbyists at it there will always be one (or more) who won't assess the car properly, underestimate the repair cost then push its price up to uneconomic pretty quick. Let them try it and learn their lessons along the way.

YouTube has a lot to answer for in this respect. Maybe it’s just me, or my area, but FB marketplace is crammed full of cars on the hit list. Usually sold by a guy using his girlfriends account? These are cars that have been bought to repair and sell on. But they sell because it’s all about the price. Nothing else matters until things go wrong. These guys don’t use autotrader for some reason?

Its health and safety at fault .

Fences round this , Signs up for that , Don't walk here or there , Cant climb trees , Cant climb ladders , Cant pick weights up , Must wear hard hats , Put gloves on , Ear defenders on for hoovering the lounge and a thousand rules that we grew up without

So all these PC restrictions save the lives of all the idiots and brainless wallies that would otherwise of perished years ago aged 16 ish wandering about aimlessly in life getting squashed and falling off cliffs etc .

These people have now had kids , this is the problem as these kids were born stupid , been bought up stupid , and are among us in society breathing oxygen and getting confused about all sorts of things we knew about years ago growing up ,

Health and safety  is at fault i tell you , its allowed fools to breed , we are now feeling the effect .

I had an email the other day from Manheim trying to drum up interest.

What I don’t understand is why on Earth  you need to register to attend & only one person per account - Manheim must surely be one of the most awkward bastards to do business with & yet again more hurdles to jump. You can go just about anywhere in the country unfettered but with Manheim that’s not the case. What a fucking company.

Not that I’ve used them much over the last few years but the sharp practices employed by their staff regarding misdescribed vehicles has driven me elsewhere. I’m afraid Manheim opening up for a few evening sales so I can look at the bangers won’t attract me back -  I’d bet they’re not allowing full access to the cars, no doubt disguised as anti-COVID measures, as they’ll do absolutely anything to castrate the efforts of trade bidders to sort the wheat from the chaff.

This whole thing is just to gauge interest. They offer tickets so they can judge how many attendees. I had a peep on simulcast and was expecting a rugby scrum but it looked a bit quiet?

But, if you want physical auctions to open again I’d suggest you guys support these test openings? Or, as I suspect they’ll stay online. Maybe have the odd special event. I’d also imagine BCA are watching very closely.

I've just received that email. There does seem to be an awful lot of rules and regulations....temperature checking/NHS track & trace app/only one person per Manheim account/marshalls telling us where to go, as it were!.....I'd rather they checked the temperatures of the car engines! :D I think I'll be sticking to online personally.

I'm quite surprised they are opening up at all though as I'm very doubtful BCA will ever go back to any type of physical auction.

Manheim did say this was a ‘bench marking’ exercise, which implies they have their own criteria for opening up (or not).

Quite a few customers who come my way have a tale to tell about viewing cars they’ve seen on FB. By the time they get to me these customers are usual VERY easy to deal with.

Mind you have you seen the standard of sub £5K cars nowadays? A quick look on any advertising site will show filthy cars with stained seats :(. There’s one garage near me, plenty of cars, they have a £6K motor with a dented wing. It’s no wonder they have plenty of cars advertised with motors like that, fuck me, I’ve sold £999 cars that are tidier,

I was following some mk7 fiestas on BCA weeks ago. One had a rusty drivers door. I noticed it sold and then tipped up on autotrader, at a dealership. Still had the rusty doors? WTAF?

That market is absolutely fucked & has been for months - the lads can barely give the stuff away & if you’ve tried selling a cheap p/x you’ll see the bottom-rung punters nowadays are absolutely pitiful. I’ve got three bangers to advertise & I can’t bring myself to advertise them.

The management at one auction house are openly telling anyone who’ll listen they can’t shift this dross so they will submit any bid & work for next to nowt.

I’m generally in the market sector above 2K (most of mine are 2.5-5K) & it’s absolutely flat out. I can sell everything (except for one heap of French shit no-one wants) that I can prep and as such I constantly only have a few cars advertised - as soon as something is advertised it sells fast so I always look like a business going down the pan with 3 or 4 cars advertised.

You can’t fail to notice that, at least in my area, the FB marketplace is awash with ‘cheap’ copart rebuild projects from guys using their girlfriends accounts living in caravans?

  10. I understand they are still shipping Eastern European pickers over! Laying on special planes? £20 per hour is fine, but the commute is tough, unless you live in a van?

GB news? Seriously? Our ‘TV’ usually unpicks this stuff forensically. Funded by wealthy elites who believe there’s a gap in the market for programmes railing against cultural elites who impose their views on ordinary Britons. Its main backers include the US TV group Discovery, the Dubai based investment fund Legatum and the brexit-funding hedge fund boss sir Paul Marshall?

OK if you like that sort of thing?

On the plus side his government has chucked a few quid into the pot for us car dealers, for which we as a business are very much appreciative. Nothing surprises me in terms of so called sleaze or errors made by politicians of all parties, Tony Blair took our young men and women into a war they did not want, and he is doing just fine now. Unlike many of those brave young people who have life changing injuries as a result . This so called claim against Bozza is small beer in comparison to errors that politicians in office make. Leave the guy alone he is doing a half decent job in extreme circumstances, what sane person would want his job right now.

    You’re not winning me over.

Does at Main Dealers . Seen Audi S3 , A3 A4 all main dealer services , with stiff brakes , low pads , and worst of all air filters so clogged you could grow carrots in them . Even Oil filters that have all but dissolved in side they've been on that long , Horrendous really .

Why we strip everything and re do the lot . Eliminates problems of the embarrassing kind then when some one fishes out a pollen filter or air filter that is blocked .

When customers start bragging about full main dealer history , I start getting worried :o

Agreed. But isn’t it more about how a main dealer service then appears cheaper to customer presumably?  Change the oil, visual checks, stamp the book, everyone’s happy.
