Most cars come with tyre sealant now. Useless evil stuff.

Not a lot of difference between the young guys and girls these days. Apparently sperm counts are half what they were 30 years ago - additives in plastics affecting male hormones is possibly the culprit.

So if they were more virile they should be able to pump the flat tyre up with sperm?

Parents not taking the time to educate their kids is a massive problem.

So like a fireside chat. You read the owners manual to the kids at bedtime?:D

Then again we have a couple of limp wristed guys , they are so bloody useless , once a month they troll up and my daughter checks their oil levels , these are Married guys with kids as well .Imagine them changing a tyre , wouldn't know which way to turn a bloody nut :o

Would your daughter change a flat at the roadside?

I know of a lot of guys who could not change a wheel. I live in a rural county and have stopped and helped many people change a wheel over the last 34 years I have been here, I would say I have helped more guys than gals. Let us all face the facts, a lot of techs, tyre fitters bang the studs up that hard that many people would struggle, even more so with a flimsy wheel brace.

That’s all true. But it got me thinking that I’ve never seen a woman changing a wheel. I’m not criticising women, it’s not a pleasant job at the best of times even for us guys? And I wonder how much thought manufacturers put into it. Apart from a tin of magic sealer and a pump.

As a side note. I remember from my youth (yonks ago) a mates mother who wouldn’t even pump her own fuel?

  4. I noticed two cars today with the RAC changing wheels at the side of the road. Both women. Both newish cars. It’s 2022. Do car manufacturers not allow for ladies to change flats at the side of the road. Sure, I’m not saying pregnant ladies or ladies of a certain age. But both ladies I saw were In their 30s and would probably have gym membership?
Even if the RAC offer a flat tyres ‘bolt on’ to their membership, who wants to wait a few hours for a man in a van?

So, would your wife/girlfriend change a wheel at the roadside?

i would have gone with "and posted to DVLA" as the biggest error, why wouldnt you use electronic transfer and put your trust in the post office ? we have had a few of these and i just send confirmation email from the dvla showing i no longer own the car end off doesnt matter when i delivered it, the fine must go to the recorded keeper of the car simples.

Well, you say that. Many years ago, well about 20? I bought a car for my stepson at the block. Just a fiesta, nothing special. I handled the paperwork, and filled his name and address on the V5 and sent it (no electronic transfer then). I know the v5 arrived at his flat because I saw it. About 6 months later he gets flashed by a static camera and ignores the nip. He actually moved and thought that would get them off his tail. 2 months I get the nip sent to me including a little pic of him driving with his girlfriend sat next to him? But how did they get my details unless they backtracked all the previous owners until it arrived at manheim as a Gates px. I’m assuming manheim gave my account details to the police. It was never in my name? But I had to send them a sales receipt and all that nonsense to clear it up. But it was just a normal stock purchase that ran through my business. My name & address was never on the V5.

I know that they report suspicious account activity to the usual agencies, DWP/HMRC etc. But I’m guessing they allow access for debt collectors/bailiffs now?

Have you noticed most of the BCA stock is marked with engine problems. Never seen so many cars with engine problems. Ive had one come through the other day where it said engine was smoking. Had it delivered drove it around no smoke at all. Has just passed its MOT with no work needed and a new service put on it.

Youtube tyrekickers guy thinks it some legal advise as they will stop any comebacks in case the car goes bad.. or something along those lines.

It doesn’t help that BCA have not chosen to restart physical auctions? Unlike Manheim?

  9. I’m guessing I’m in the older age range on this forum but If you’re retiring (67) does ncb make a lot of difference in reality. I’m nearly ‘there’ and my trade insurance are getting a bit ‘salty’ about my age now. Funny how they were ‘salty’ about me when I was 17?

I wonder what would be the bigger hit, just the fact of being old or no bonus?

PS: obviously, if you’re coming out of the trade at 25 with no bonus that’s a ballache!

I think the fact your posting it here, means it works, have done similar in the past.

Car dealers generally don’t move their stock enough, having said that as most people search online it’s not so vital these days.

I think it was more to do with a certain funeral?

    date 30/08/2922

    webchat turned off

phone lines turned off for anything but driving licences

this is a national scandal and all our politicians are doing is pontificating on anything and everything and doing nothing the Dammed lot of them

    it's bloody disgusting

We need to “take back control!” :D

  12. I’ve noticed a few ‘genuine’ guys dropping into threads to offer their services. Perhaps the nice people at CDM could create a section for ‘trade’ advertisers to hawk their wares to us motor traders. Could be a convenient way for CDM to sort the wheat from the chaffe? And at least it would save us searching through old threads for their details.

Funny you say about fees, I don’t get how they get away being so secretive over fees , does everyone on the same card pay same fees or have some people managed to get theirs lower ?

True, manheim fees are on their website if you dig in a bit, but bca only show blue cards as far as I know? Not sure why the secrecy?

Apparently it’s because during Covid insurance inspectors were doing damage inspections by phone and not actually seeing the vehicle in person. So basically being overly cautious when pricing repairs meaning more cars were being written off.

And lots of furloughed workers decided to buy them to fix up to relieve boredom? :D

hopefully you made more than £100 profit on the car you sold too!!

I was playing ‘management lingo bingo’ reading through that. Can imagine what their strategy meetings were like!:D

They are everywhere. We took in a Corsa today in p/x that had been written off twice - cat c and a cat s, much to the surprise of the owner. There are definitely more advertised on Autotrader/trade

I think it’s probably got something to do with these YouTuber’s who make it look so easy to buy off copart, then fix/bodge and sell for big profits

High number of ‘proper’ trade advertisers too, which is interesting as none of those youtuber copart guys admit to being car dealers. It’s just for fun apparently?
