I very much doubt that HMRC are now going to start chasing Facebook  ‘ ne’er do wells ‘ or anyone else without assets or funds.

My understanding is that selling platforms are now being forced to report back once a cash/sales limit is reached. The bots do the heavy lifting in all this.

Many thanks for the reply trade vet - I'd imagine there will be a hefty increase in the premium if the named driver can't claim any NCD.

It's me driving the car most of the time so I might be better off taking on the car myself [I'd imagine I'd have to register it in my name then if I'm insured as the main driver] and having mother as the named driver.

In saying that though, I've only ever held a motor trade policy so all my NCD is on a trade policy. I'm pretty sure only Direct Line acknowledge a motor trade NCD, I think most insurers don't ever allow a motor trade NCD when starting a private policy.

Thanks again trade vet, I've only ever had dealings with motor trade policies. I'll call the current insurer tomorrow and see what they say.

Not 100% sure but I heard Churchill’s may consider trade NCD?

  3. Anyone else having trouble logging in these days. I notice they’ve pinned a message on their website about it. I seem to have good days and bad days on my various devices. Can’t wait to hear from my account manager!

    Groan!

    Hi all,

    Hope you are all well.

Been very slow this May, anyone experiencing the same?

Random other questions. Are red cars hard to sell?

    TIA

There is some ‘customer resistance’ to red. I remember a punters wife once saying “I’m not driving around in a fooking fire engine!”

Extraordinary ,lashing out on a new set of manufacturers mats !

We used to buy sets of mats for £5 from Macess ( remember them ) and give them to the punters on handover.

The mats weren’t that good but the packaging was and they were labelled ‘luxury car mats ‘. The punters loved them to the extent that when they returned for another car, they would often first enquire if they still got a set of luxury mats !

Maccess, those were the days! Were those the same Luxury mats that the edges used to curl up?:D

I still buy those cheap mats off ebay:lol:

They make photos look mint but you nearly crack a bone when you get in car and they slide

Seriously. I recently treated myself to a ‘genuine’ set of Ford mats for my smoker and they are NOT what they used to be!

Not only the importers,In the early 80’s ,dressing up your stock was a trend.Vinyl roofs, plastic sun roofs ,trim rings ,coach lines ,DIY white wall tyres etc. You could then describe them as a Special Edition .I think we did a Datsun Sunny Celebration Special Edition ,I didn’t need to with Ladas, they were bog standard !

Yes Savage wheel trims !  I had forgotten about Samaras,I once used one of them as a local smoker for a month or two .I made a point of parking it next to the bullshitters/gobshites  ‘chucky’d up ‘ smokers with shit personal plates at the local BCA ,just to annoy them !

    Savage wheel trims! :D

what about those ‘universal fit’ centre consoles with cassette storage you got from Halfords? And those cheap mats that always ended up wedged behind the peddles!

Hi guys, out of interest, circa 10 years time when there will be far more EV’s and rapid charging is the norm which depletes batteries quicker, can anyone project how much older EV’s will sell for.For instance will a 10 year old,100k,average size EV but with 30% battery depletion be considered a ‘cheapie ‘ in the trade caused by the prohibitive cost of batteries.Could a 60 grand Tesla or similar become £3000 ! Alternatively will the equivalent Euro 6 petrol and diesels retain their values far better and be better retailers than they are now………..thoughts please.

Good question. Especially when you see what an ancient ‘worn smooth’ 400k mile ex private hire Prius makes!

Selling a 10yr old Tesla is terrifying, good luck with that!  I want to be well out of this game before that happens. Fortunately I’ve got my over 60s travel card now so bah humbug!

I think with all the barmy laws we may be entering a period when dealers can’t sell anything much over 7 years? The problem is they have no money and expect to spend no money repair and servicing a 9 year old car?

    Thoughts?

So, a 9yr old, £4.5k,100k mile shitter on finance for five years? Yikes! What could go wrong?
