Are so cheap now, we completely disregard them when pricing up our stock. There really is just no need to put the cars in as cheap as they have been advertising them for. Problem is, they'll have admin fee's, they'll give it the hard sell on the warranties (and everything else) and the cars will have little/no prep other than the bare minimum - but try telling a customer that. Anyone else noticed how cheap EH stuff has been over the last few months? Stevie

Dave, the only thing I'm finding in that link for the newer XK, is a latch and a striker, no pumps Buying from the states doesn't bother me. -

Hi Mark, are they really? Thats very good to know, and might well try that first. The car itself is a complete show stopper. 26k miles and 8 Jag stamps. We'll give it a run through a couple of the auction houses first to see how we get on. Thanks again, Stevie As far as I'm aware they'll be the same across all the newer shape XKs. -
Hi Guys, we're are demented with an 07 XK Convertible we have in stock. Its been off sale for months, struggle with the folding fabric roof. It all started when the battery went down on it, and we had to manually operate the roof to access the battery, when the pump burst a seal in the boot. We then sent the pump to a place called Electric Roof Repairs who had the pump for over 2 months. It's now back and the valve block is now knackered inside the pump. I'm not even going to entertain phoning the firm about it... A new pump from Jaguar is 3700.00 and not really an option - as you can probably imagine. This is a 26k mile car, with a cost value of 17500, so a fair chunk of money to have out in an unsellable car for this length of time, so ANY help at all would be massively appreciated. Hoping for some good (any!!) advice... Stevie

Gearing your business up to live on finance is ignorant and short sighted. You need to remember 'your' finance commi isn't guaranteed. An early settlement, or default resulting in legal action (repossession ) will result in all your commish being clawed back. We once had a 1200 comm being clawed back at 40 months into a 48 month PCP. Do the job right, make your earnings on well bought stock, marketed properly (which you do) and view comms as a bonus. Thinking about all the extra money you 'could' make only distorts the great earnings you are already making from finance. Dont get greedy. Trying to force customers down an avenue to suit you and your earnings is only going to end badly. And if I'm honest, deservedly so. We can make a good living out of this job, without forcing it. Offer good rates, and the convenience we can provide over the banks (which most of the time are a complete pantomime) Stevie -
Lee and I sold five one Saturday, in between three handovers and two purchases. All between 11am and 4pm We were buzzing by the end of the day. Sadly not something we have repeated since! Great day though Simon. Must have been high as a kite! Stevie

Hello CD Collective, I'm usually fairly competent with pricing, even with older low mileage stuff (we also have a 96 Elise with 8k miles, which has been fine to price), but I bought a one owner Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE with 9000 miles the other day and I'm left scratching my head as to what we could ask. Its clearly not the type of car to simply just add a flat margin on top of the purchase price. Its been serviced every year by the supplying dealer, right up to 2017 (300miles driven since), so its pretty special. Any input/advice would be great. Cheers, Stevie

Thats brilliant!! lol Thats a CHEAP RS4 Cab, but as above, a complete liability. As will the punter who'll buy it. Champaign eyes, Coca Cola Pockets springs to mind! And not if, when they brake it - it'll be right back to you with a first class stamp! I'd pass!

2007 Jaguar XK Cab with 26k miles and 8-Stamps (7 of which are Jag) - 165days But now the roofs broken :'( I was actually chuffed when it was traded in last year for CAP av. I'd take a solid kick in the chuckies just to see the back of it now. Anyone like a nice smoker for the summer? (roof fixed obviously!) Stevie -
We have been an RAC BuySure dealer for around 5years and its been a good move for us. We are around 30k / yr with them, but when we take into account the sell-ups, and warranty costs covered, let alone less time dealing with warranty complaints when they arrive and the head space it can take up, its been a great addition to our business. Our account manager, Neil, is superb too. Exceptionally professional. It helps get the odd deal over the line, especially distance customers. The POS stuff is okay, as is the branding on the website etc., but for us, its the fact it distances us from the majority of the after sales stuff, which is a major plus. We review our 'burn rate' each year, reviewing claims over the year and I'll be honest, some of the stuff they have paid out on, even on their middle of the road - Gold Policy - has been eye opening. Only downside? There are quite a few dealers on the platform now, so not just quite the edge it used to have. I'd say, if you embrace their product, it works. If you pick and choose only iffy cars which are liable to cause problems, they wont be long in sussing you out and start to reject claims. They aren't daft! Still, it hurts to put a warranty on a 3yr old BMW with 15k miles lol Hope no one near Airdrie picks up on this Stevie

Yes, LOVE a cheap runner! Although the JimmyGlen 'Betsie' has evolved over the years. Back in the 80/early90s is was a Volvo 240 Estate Car 'Betsie I' 90s and into the 00s we had a Carina E 2.0d (non-turbo), scrapped with 247k and 3 clutches later 'Betsie II' 2006 - 2011 VW Passat 1.8T Sport I bought for 800quid, ran for 5years and sold for 1995 'Betsie II' 2011 - 2012 Honda Integra Type R. took in part-ex for 700 and rebuilt to a show piece. Was too small in the end and sold for a tidy profit. 'Betsie III' 2012 - Now Audi A4 Avant 2.5TDI Quattro manual. Current running costs over 7years add up to 5k, but its mint and a keeper for ever! Hi Guys, I usually just get on with it, but when reviewing whats currently for sale, there appears to be a startling number of these things for sale with lovely summer back drops (nice green trees/bushes), indicating there are a fair few hanging around for sale. And for quite some time! Any one any experiences? The lads looking to p/x against '15 Merc CLA45 Shooting Brake. His Mustang is orange in colour, 16k miles, manual and three owners already (EEK!) Pleased with January sales so far, with 10 deals done and a couple of real crackers on the board along with excellent finance penetration. Even have a Smart car going to Germany of all places?! Had a TT-S to refund which was a shame, but main thing was the customer was outstanding through the whole time we tried to sort the EML; which just refuses to stay out. Anyway, we can now get it right with no pressure and sell again once its 100% I'm hoping strong sales from December/start of Jan continue as we had a fair few tough months last year. Covering AT, FB, YT & Google, so we're trying our very best in every department. Thankfully it feels like we're beginning to reap the rewards. Stevie

Fair play AD, but I just see grief written all over that. The greased up brake pipes (obviously to get it to scrape through its last test) and the rotten sills together with the mileage, just no. Good cars can go wrong and cause problems, but stuff like this, is like welcome problems with open arms. Sometimes its not all about the profit. Sanity is priceless.
