Did they employ any staff?

Had one this morning, as with everything at the moment I really took my time on it, even moisturized

Mark101, you just hit the nail on the head, I knew the answer obviously I was just wondering what type of responce I would get. Maybe they could help out those that have paid themselves that way but at a reduced rate, I feel the loop hole should have been shut years ago, I have been limited in the past and benefitted from it but for the last 35 years have been a sole trader, luckily for me at this time declaring all.

Why do people take dividends and just not pay themselves the proper wage each week?

7 hours ago, Stephen said:I saw that on another site and was suprised at the amount of guys worried because they did mainly cash and did not put it through the books. I am sure there is nothing official in that paper yet as I cannot find anything else out there.

Quite what my length of time in the industry has to do with talking about Coronavirus I don’t know. I can read the news like you can. Anyone can hold an opinion.
Do I know you? Do you know me? This is the second thinly veiled dig at me you have had on here, in the last 3 weeks. You seem to have a little hard on for me.
The moderators on the forum here don’t really like little spats, which is understandable. It doesn’t look good on the board as a whole.
I happen to live very close to the areas you are going to looking at cars tonight (Petts Wood, Orpington) so why don’t you send me a private message (to keep the board free from this sort of thing) tell me the name of a pub near where you’re going to be later and a time, and I’ll swing by and buy you a pint and you can tell me to my face all your problems with me and we can sort it all out?
Seems Trump may have changed his mind, maybe he is getting it from the Dandy today.

I had an email from a USA supplier last week saying an aluminium casing will not be available until the end of March maybe, it is made in China.

Out of interest, how many cars did you sell in the last 12 months?

Two car dealer mates of mine paid £1,000 years ago for a triple garage, the kit type thing in somebodies garden on the strenght of them taking it down and removing it, only to turn up start dismantling and the owner of the property to turn up, yep, they have been well and truly had.

To be fair on AT they only made £294,285 profit per employee of which they have 710. Yeh! maybe a tad excessive, how did I miss that boat.

I agree, just less so about others that are/were on over inflated pensions.

Metcars, my son is a fireman, they are always first on the scene when a shout goes out.

A guy I know was a copper retired on 2/3 final at 49, that is one of the reason the force is short. Maybe someone can figure how much you would need in a pot to give £30,000 a year at 49.

Mark, that was about Feb 1973 the day I found out my 16 year old girlfriend (now still my wife ) was pregnant, I was 17 at the time. The dents did not become part of my life until about 16 years or so later.

34 minutes ago, metcars said:I’ve mentioned before about my daughter selling US beauty products. Some of the make-up and bath/shower products are great sellers, but the shops are only interested in selling to US customers. They clearly do not see Europe as an area worth encouraging or developing? We pay the delivery costs, not them!
And those delivery costs are hurting big style, UPS, DHL etc. put their prices up by a third within a week of the UK voting out.

I am a UK distributor for a USA company, it is hurting at the moment and sales into Europe which I used to do stopped over two years ago.

Not a clue BHM, but I do work for a couple of busy traders who seldom retail but turn a lot of metal.

If you are good at buying just sell to the trade, this may create fewer problems.

I am going to offer to do 2 dents for the price of 3.

You sure do make me feel good that I do not deal cars any more tradex, do not forget though the good times are just around the corner. So I am told.
-
Have you thought of other add on's to the wash, I supply a couple with windscreen repair kits who upsell nicely, or engage the services of a dent man or smart repairer and take a percentage off of them.

Not that I know of, I am the only one I know of that has got a history as a car dealer, which sadly for me makes me sympathetic of the problems you guys have.
What I think is a good idea is when your current dentman says no, then ask another one if the only other alternative is a bodyshop, I know of many guys who if the dent will take longer than 10 minutes are not interested in it, why should they be as we have plenty out there to go at. Myself I enjoy the challenge and do not need to earn as much as some of the other guys and I certainly do not want all the rushing around any more. Being semi retired is fun, I hope you all get to try it.

A cheap dentman is often not a good idea, a good dentman will save you money. You want a guy that will take on the big stuff as well as the small, the cheaper guys tend to pick and choose a lot more and you will likely get a lot more cannot does off of a cheap guy.
