Hi Jimbo, I have two forecourts just outside of Brighton. Happy to take a PM if you want to discuss the site?

As an example there was a potentially good little forecourt with office on a busy A road near us that holds about 12 cars up for rent recently for 14k p/a. Didn't have planning for car sales though (still doesn't after a year of trade happening).

I did a quick check to see if we wanted to take it on and worked out costs for it to be about 25 - 30k p/a all in if run as an independent site exclusive of employee wages. Rates are the big factor really.

Not gonna tell you to suck eggs over the cost of rates, insurance etc for a pitch but be careful stocking it...the guy that took it on has got it all wrong and is cutting his throat.

    Thank you mate realy helpful.

Yeah i was thinking around £1k a month would be a decent investment but also allow you to actually make a net profit.

The area on a farm would probably cost around £400-£500 a month but doesnt have an office and is basically just a bit of land, albeit on a lovely setting farm.

But at £1k a month if on roadside you’d hope to at least get £2k a month of walk ins alone on the basis of £500 profit and selling 1 a week just walk ins alone

  2. Contemplating going for a little road side pitch.

Were based in the south east - gatwick/brighton region.

What sort of costs should we be looking at for a site to hold 10-15 cars?

have seen a bit of land on a lovely farm that is also a possibility for the future but a roadside pitch would be ideal

  3. Looking at car dealer 5.

The basic package is £360+ vat a year but isnt responsive.

The next one up is £450 and is responsive.

Is it worth getting it responsive so it shows on all tablets and desktops?

says it auto loads to AT and Ebay pro - i dont have ebay pro just use standard ebay so not sure how that would integrate.

    Interesting though

Jumbo, I have a generic “intro” explaining who I am, my business ethos and deposit and payment instructions - I also have a conclusion at the end which explains PX, payment and collection.

The actual vehicle description is shot in short separate films, it looks much more professional, for example 1. Service history, keys and docs 2. Engine bay 3. Exterior front. 4. Nearside extrrior 5. Rear 6. Offside exterior 7. Interior condition & spec. 8. How it drives and the mechanical condition.

Each video appraisal lasts between 15-20 minutes. So it has to be shot in separate films then merged together in iMovie :)

Makes total sense now thanks mate thought it was just a little 60sec walkaround. Thanks

  5. Considering motors too but again does anyone really go to motors and not ebay/AT, im not convinced.

Years ago i sold 2 private cars and listed for free on motors and got zero interest comparer to lots of interest on the other 2

    How much is motors?

Don't be too hasty giving away the bangers, there's good profits in them. You just have to make sure you cover yourself when selling. As BHM said above, write a brutally honest advert and state clearly the car will be sold using an "unroadworthy" invoice. No come backs entertained at all. Simply cover yourself and the pond life will appear with a wad :)

Im on it today now thanks a lot mate.
