  1. lol Age is irrelevant I think if I want to make a go of it I need to learn and cant see nother way of picking up the basics quickly, or alternatively I just employ a mechanic buy what I want and he will be more than busy lol
  2. Why isn't it an option? It could well be not necessarily a year. I'm stuggling to see any other way to gain the necessary knowledge. More likely I just need to spend maybe a few month picking everyones brain in a garage while tidying up and helping do what ever is needed. Think a few months of free labour in exchange for getting the basics I need is fair. I know I wont learn much in few months but sure I will gain a knowledge of major faults. That on its own could save me thousands on buying problem cars. Ive been in various businesses over the years and starting to realise that this ones probably by far the hardest, which I love who wants an easy life! Plus think il enjoy it that's the main thing
  3. thanks could be an option I need to understand the mechanical side or I'm going to be in trouble
  4. Hi New to this myself but have looked at units near me and they seem to dislike the trade, they have got tenants who are selling cars by appointment only and repairing. They are however having a bit of a cul they said and wouldn't allow any more on their sites. They own units from 1000-35000q ft. Seems like they want industrial companies Worth ringing some potential agents as see what they think but I'm slightly struggling and decided to start from home. There are units around here but some are not the most appealing estates or units, but suppose what value car your selling. Someone buying a £500 car probs wouldn't be bothered but a 8K car they might just turn around and drive off Just my thoughts, Can you not try and find another partner if its successful surely there will be other people that would be interested,
  5. ok thanks will do appreciate it
  6. ok thanks for advice Max, theres a few kicking around locally I will nip in and see them thanks
  7. I know for a fact I cant, but theres only one way to learn and this site is very helpful. Think without a doubt if I go to auctions I need to take a mechanic and try and learn the basics myself asap. Before coming on here and talking to people like yourself I would have probs went to auctions got bid up and bought someones elses problem. Plus people like yourself have helped me out no end and probs already saved me thousands. But I need to learn about the mechanics and need to get the basics learned pretty quick, not sure how but need to desperately look into it. I was in engineering for over 10 years but cars are a whole new ball game, I probably wouldn't have heard a knocking flywheel but definitely will listen for it now I'm not as worried about the sales as done if for years in various industries b2b and retail. But again need to look at legal side as that's different for every industry I'm hopefully in this for the long haul and currently don't need to make money doing it but I do need to gain a massive amount of knowledge in a short amount of time, I'm giving myself a year and if it works great if not as long as I tried my best I will walk away happy. Most of all I need to enjoy it and think I will Thanks For help from all especially andy
  8. think i need an ed china lol Unless your free to view everything or me andy? :-)
  9. Good luck hopefully you will turn it round on the next ones
  10. Thanks seeing as I'm doing it from home and still got full time job happy to pay for it don't really want to upset neighbours cleaning cars on night or Sunday
  11. Saved me a fortune I'm defo never buying at auction, this definitely isn't as easy as advertised making money off cars
  12. Sorry for being naive but if you buy at auction doesn't matter what goes wrong on way home the aren't liable at all? Shud have started an auction house lol
  13. Ohh not good have you thought about taking it to another garage? For a second opinion seems expensive but I'm new good luck hope u get it sorted
  14. Hi just wondering why people pay and for what. Seems like a big divide from north to sout and massive variance on price thanks
  15. Hi just wondering why people pay and for what. Seems like a big divide from north to sout and massive variance on price thanks
  16. Yeah that's the plan wish I knew what a quality one was compared to a money pit lol
  17. thanks for help I will ask, still thinking I might start at home with 2/3 just to amek sure I can get the right cars etc. Rtahter than commit to a unit gas elec etc. Ideally I want to do it from unit straight away but suppose my mistakes are cheaper at home
  18. They are easy in easy out 3 months notice had my agent talk to them think this is because there's a few empty and they need a bit paint n tidy up aswell even mentioned 3 months free so will wait and see just need to confirm can retail from unit can definitely trade. Other on site are retailing but also supply trade so will wait and see thanks for help
  19. Ahh right not sure on that the unit I'm looking at is kinda industrial but there is people doing retail in nearby units so should be fine needs a paint on outside and probably the floor painting already got bit of an office and it's 3000 sq ft ish so think its all I need and more just need to get some cars lol thabks for advice again appreciated

  23. ok just worried about the problems with bangers coming back? id your selling for 500/1000 with 200/500 profit by time pay advertising take into account time and trade ins etc all it takes is a problem with it and I'm losing money I see your near me how fo doing at minute most traders ive spoke to around here have picked up massively in last month thanks for help it is really appreciated as you can tell I'm new lol or are you scared of the competition your in my village lol
  24. Thanks for help. Ive had finance license in past in previous industry so pretty sure I should be ok Yeah your probably right just thinking that people who buy 4/5k cars might want finance and if they do they wont come to me if I don't offer it want to appeal to full market I can Yeah I sound naïve but I'm happy to put the hard work in and I know I will lose on some and have issues but will succeed long term. Got world pay to sort card machine out not sure if I should charge people to pay on card or not but its under 1% of invoice total and again people do like to pay on card for security and fact that they might have interest free cards. Know that's how I used to buy mine. All help so far has been fantastic and I do appreciate it. I will speak to close and see how we get on thanks for help again appreciated!!! Hopefully get first card this weekend and see where it goes, hopefully not putting them in auction praying not to lose to much lol cars this weekend whoops
