Whoever installed Manheims simulcast video feed needs a clip round the ear. It must have been quite a job to get such poor quality in 2017?

Think you're being rather generous with only the clip round the ear, I feel a lengthy prison sentence will be better suited.

Just out of interest how much time do you guys dedicate to hunting down stock. Am I the only one going through auction lists at 2.30am?

I was up 2 am last night browsing the auction lists so your not the only one mate, so time consuming and stressful looking at a repetitive computer screen. Regular thing for me.

Why are people wasting time on this pillock?

Definitely think your being way to harsh there BHM, yes we as dealers have to deal with very difficult, uneducated, lying people many a time. But on this occasion looks like the dealer may be pulling a fast one with a misleading advert. Saying that, some people just don't read adverts properly.

Eg I advertise a car clearly stating the car has sat nav complete with photo, and the amount of owners the car has. I still get a text 'alrite mate has the car got nav n how many owners' sigh

It is illegal to sell an unroadworthy vehicle to the public without very clearly explaining in the advert and putting in writing on the invoice that the car is "unroadworthy" & "should not be driven on the road" and must be "transported away".

    This, save yourself the aggro!

i bet you can gurantee sure as eggs is eggs that if you said yes to £500 he wouldnt show.

Or he would show with the intention of offering £400, so he has £100 left to put a tenner in the tank, take his chavvy missus and malnutritioned staf cruising,  then take a deserved trip to the bookies.

    Nah, by the main counter.

Thats how I've been doing it in my head. What would I pay, see where it goes. Thing that had me the first few times was thinking cars had sole, only for 80% of them to be back on 2 days later. How many times will the seller pay the entry fee?

The big vendors pay no entry fees as far as I'm aware, hence the extortionate buyers fee.

Oh, and I bought car last night because it just popped up cheap while I was pricing a stand up punch bag on Gumtree! It's an 03 Silver 206cc. 82k, leather. 2 months MOT. Hood works fine. Drives fine. Airbag light on. You wouldn't have it on your patch as it is thats for sure. Needs 3 tyres & a drop link. £200.

Now, I wouldn't mind keeping this for the lads footy trips overt the summer, as it just me and him on these trips and it'd be nice in the summer with the roof down, but where is the line I need to be aware of between personal use & dealer? There is a good chance I'll sell this before I go on holiday in August while the suns still out.

Try not to use the cars for personal, detach yourself from it... It's there for business and to make money. Give it a good test drive, get tyres and drop link, and get MOT, Sell it ASAP.

Although if he has the time to drive around all day looking at mis-described sheds he could always do a bit of 'mini cabbing' :D

Very true..But if he's willing to put the work rate in it could work.....Then again he had 2/3 jobs already, I'm not sure how he will have the time, to sell the cars

I also know one particularly trader that, on a saturday when the auction is full of mostly private punters, deliberately 'crunches' the gears when trying the clutch to make the cars appear to have a problem:D

I remember going up to a trader doing exactly that. I was  shaking my head saying 'gearbox knackered', him agreeing. Know and behold 5 minutes later he sees me out bidding him on the same car. Let's just say he wasn't amused. :)

It will never happen they make huge amounts of money out of them.

Just out of interest how do guys get on with being able to jump in and try out clutches?

If I can't  jump in and have a feel of the clutch, rev and see if electrics working inside, I usually don't bother bidding. Manheim Wimbledon use to have about 10 cars idling with no driver so was easy. I ain't been there in a while though because of the prices of the shite they sell there.

    Your very best defense=

is you offered to repair the car, they refused.

no faults were present at time of sale, they refused to return the vehicle for you to repair it, and you are considering a counter claim against them for no more than a thousand pounds for your inconvenience, time spent replying to court action etc etc

I thought if the car develops a fault within 30 days, the customer can reject the car, we have no right to try to repair it and have to give a refund.

This customer sounds like he will lie through his teeth to get his way.

    Good luck hope you win.
