it would be dependant on weather

when i mix my own 2 pack lacquer i can get it to be buffable in 20 minutes with the heat gun,i have 2 different types of infra red panel heaters but they can easily cause problems with underlying paint :)

Thought the heat gun was only good for drying primer and sometimes base coat, was going to invest in a heat lamp. But will just try the heat gun now.

Can anybody recommend and good lacquer in a spray can for smart repairs?

Pro xl 2k lacquer, I've used with excellent results, obviously expect orange peel as low pressure, but nothing a cut and buff couldn't sort out.

1k paint dries, 2k hardens/cures, so heat gun wood be pointless for clearcoat you would need a short wave heat lamp which would cure paint in 15-20 minutes, or just leave it to harden over a few days depending on weather.

Also heard spraymax is quite good as well, but pricey.

Here's some good advice, don't bother with brisk on seats, use TFR/Water mix and you will never look back.

The Titan one I bought works fine on carpets and I can't see why it wouldn't work on seats. You shouldn't be getting the seats soaking wet anyway cos it plays havoc with the seat belt sensor. Use Autosmart Brisk which doesn't over wet the fabric.

What titan did you buy the one in the link above?

My George is probably 10 years old now and going strong still. Couple it with a good steam cleaner for air vents and nooks and crannies etc and you can't go wrong. Steamers are great on steering wheels too especially leather ones with stitching. Come up a treat. Plastic steering wheel cover on afterwards and the customer always comments on how clean and fresh they are.

Could you recommend any steam cleaners?

I used to re-auction via no reserve auction between 30/50 cars per month on ebay prior to the crash 2008, just like Luke at Sterling Cars £400 net per car... He actually copied my business model, 40% of all auctions were wrecked by the greater majority last minute foreign named bidders who had no intention of owning the car, and I mean my head would drop when mo... or naz... was the winner.... Utter scumbags... Don't get me started in eBay.

That sterling cars have some balls of steel, auctioning Bentleys and stuff, he must be doing something near correct because he's been doing it for years.

And I definitely relate to your frustration, many people are just so brain dead.

I mentioned it because Wicked Red has a problem keeping its lacquer, worrying that the 3 layer does the same. B)

To be honest the lacquer on the front bumper as peel off in a couple places, not sure if that's just a bad repair, or add you say the colour.

3 or 4 years ago I got a Peugeot 206 rear quarter filled up with a bucket of filler & the whole car painted pink for £300. I kid you not, although I have to confess it was far from the best job & the weed smoking imbecile is no longer in business. I suspect this isn’t much help to you.......

Would have been use to me if he was still in business but oh well...

Is that a thing?? Had a Focus last year (in our name) got 10 or so PCNs for it down in London. Found it bizarre that someone would do duplicate plates for a car only to park in the same spot day after day.

I hate even writing the letters DVLA, makes me quiver in disgust!

Paint is the same price regardless of what it is at my local paintshop.. he's having your kecks down.

£100 a panel is what we pay for everything.

Look for someone on Facebook who wants cash in hand jobs, they will work for much less than this guy is willing too.

Cash is good, but like to show I've spent the money in my books. How do you get round that..

He's spot on. If he can match that he can match anything.

Its already had a smart repair previously on the rear bumper, and the colour match was piss poor.

  10. Hi all,  old painter is now in prison, so had to look for a new paint guy. Just been quoted £300-£350... Scuff on bumper corner and paint peeled off in the other corner, deep dent (30cm)  and graze on the sill. He was charging me £200 just for the bumper. It's pearlescent paint in dark red /burgundy, he said it's a lot of money for the paint as it's 3 layers of paint and difficult colour to match. Is he having me on or is he about right?

I skimmed over this and WOW. The way I see it..... The car needs paint, mark Don't wanna paint it...... no big deal, he's clearly stated the car has paint defects. I'm not sure what all the rest of this noise is. I don't know how the hell trading standards have been brought in to this and how have pages have been written about faults, trading standards and all this other breeze?

I agree, some of us need to grow some balls.

Come on Mark how much did you pay for it

Copy of the ad - a legally approved document to sign and an 18.5" neck - should be ok

Copy of the ad, lawgistics trade invoice, proof of ID and copy of trade insurance.  Make it clear in ad you need trade insurance to buy the car.

Its perfectly legal, your genuine and your doing nothing wrong. Don't know what all this scare mongering is about.
