We close on Monday night, for 24/25/26, then open 27/28/29/30 and 31 but only to 2pm, then everyone is back on the 2nd. We do weekend hours on 27 and 30 and the workshops admin parts just have a skeleton staff. As for bonus, party etc, that used to be easy when we only had one franchise and less than 20 staff, but now we are 40, but we had the same party, hotel in Leeds with other companies, and I offer a room at the hotel free or pay for the taxi home, and have a good night, I think we all deserve it, and for a bonus this year I spent a few quid on a prize draw and everyone got at least a drink or a big tin of chocs, and the lucky ones got an I pad, TV, hamper etc. They should all get a bonus at our year end too. I cant do it without them, so I share it about.

We all mug in together, my desk is in an open office, everyone talks to everyone all the time, we dont have a divide between any members of staff, we are all the same, but just do different jobs. It seems to work, and everyone seems to enjoy the open management style. Offices are where people hide, so dont have them!!!! We have our lunch on the run, where ever and when ever we get a couple of minutes.

£30 per month for all cars? That sounds like a bargain to me. Surely it's got to be worth a trial for three months.

Certainly wouldn't be a bad thing! However it has to policed correctly, not left to it's own devices! Something makes me think that they won't stick with it though, at the omen AT can't even control the dealers on there selling Cat C & D cars and the scammers so how are they going to manage customer feedback? Also what happens if a dealer who is spending £10k per month with AT continually receive bad reviews from customers, are AT going to print them? and of they are asked to take the comments offline because it is affecting the dealer WHAT THEN? I think we all know the answer! Jim

This is an open forum and happy for anyone to link to other sites. If it starts debate that's fine. We'd obviously prefer links to Car Dealer but if you've seen something elsewhere then we won't stop you sharing it and debating it here. We're not mean. Interesting post too Umesh. Think it will cause a problem? Or have dealers got nothing to be scared off?

Our sales team always wear jeans and a nice shirt (no tie) with brogues or dress shoes, so 'smart casual'. Since I started 10 years ago I have always done this as it breaks down barriers straight away, as long as your clothes are clean and well ironed and your appearance is clean and tidy (hair etc, well hair doesn't really apply to me!!) customers don't even notice what you are wearing! At weekends we were smart logo'd black polo shirts and have branded/logo'd quality fleeces and winter jackets too. It's important to look smart, but for a customer visiting an independent car dealer outside the city, to be greeted by a sharp suited an booted 21 year old , just don't know if that would do it for our customers........I maybe wrong!
