Rory RSC 596 Posted October 1, 2015 Sold a car around 5 weeks ago. Focus ST.Came back for a knocking noise. Fairly easy fix it was a suspension bush. However the car has a different exhaust on, dump valve and I suspect a remap. Selling more and more sporty type cars and feel this sort of thing may happen more frequently. What would you do? jimreidvehicle 255 Posted October 1, 2015 Easy answer, the part that has gone is not related to the extra parts fitted to the car, so I would fix it. However the knocking was caused due to the exhaust or other parts then the customers needs to realise the responsibility lies with him due to the modifications.Jim
umesh 336 Posted October 1, 2015 I have on my invoice if the customers modify the car in anyway and the problem /warranty is related to that then its not covered ! the have to be fully responsible for their actions. I've even included i.e. towbar/ hand free systems ( I know most have bluetooth now ) as I had an issue a few years back when the customer had a towbar fitted and caused issues with electrics , nothing to do with the car but poorly fitted by an amateur. we have to cover selves from these !
James Bush 95 Posted October 1, 2015 Its written into my warranty that any modifications then the warranty becomes null and void
