Number of owners on V5c

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm new here and would like to ask the collective brains here a question about V5c, traders and DVLA.

If I part ex a vehicle and was the second owner of that vehicle, if I wanted to buy back that vehicle several months later from the same dealer I part exed with would I become the second and third owner or can I get the V5c back as it was before the part ex. i.e. still the second owner, no changes to the logbook etc.?

The dealer did all the yellow slip stuff properly and there is no reason for me wanting it back, other than I actually just prefer it. Nothing bad about the dealer, he's a very nice, helpful bloke.

Sorry for the complicated scenario but I am very curious about this, and obviously would prefer 2 owners to 3 owners.

Cheers guys,

Ivy.

You would be considered as an extra owner. In the old days when V5's showed previous owners, your name would be current owner and previous owner.

Thank you for responding so quickly.

I thought that would be the case. Annoying though.

Ivy.

That's very long shot. Usually the car will be gone in 3-4 weeks, never mind months and that's if they are retailing it. If not it will be gone in a few days.

Photocopy it before posting if you want to keep proof you were previous keeper

I think I will do that.

It's a motorbike and it is still with the dealer. It's not a particularly desirable bike but I like it and know the history from new. If you didn't know the history (two mature and very experienced riders. No kids, Motogp wannabees or learners have been near it) you would say it's over priced, hence not selling.

Thanks for all the input people.
