Old style v5 (BLUE)

Hi all, purchased a car from bca knowing it had an old style v5 the blue 1 just wondering if we can still sell the car using this document reference number or do we apply for a new 1? Long time since we had a blue v5 and was fine when we used to use post office but now it's all done online and don't know if we can use it when transferring ownership

It won’t be the latest. 

You can apply for V62 (customers name) in a post office and having that old V5 will save you the £25 fee.

Check the V5 reference number and issue date on HPI to see if it's the latest issued V5 for that car. 

If it is, I believe you'll be ok to use it. 

Why don't you just try it on the online system? See if you can get past the reg and reference number page?

Just tried it comes up with vehicle details not recognised

Yes used to do this in the past but was curious to see if would work with the online system, will just use the v62 when sold and a trip to the post office

Got a customer very keen on coming to view and drive it away today. Post office is closed so how would they go on about driving it back? 2 hour travelling to view

The only option you have: 

Charge them for the cost of 6 month tax and tell them that you will arrange that for them tomorrow morning. Include tax payment in their invoice, even a debit card receipt for the cost of the tax so they can show it  in case they get pulled over. Submit a V62 with their details in the post office tomorrow am along with the tax application. 

Not ideal but not much else I can think of here.
