Dave2302 387 Posted July 6, 2018 Hi, I'm new to the Forum, a Part Time Trader and Full Time Garage Workshop owner, based in NW Scotland. Specialise in Multiple makes, Diagnostic electronics and Programming using various different 'Make Specific' Dealer Level Machines. Hopefully I can give help here at some point I have just got trade plates, following a local garage owner mate got pulled by Police area car in a Customers car, turned out it wasn't taxed or Mot'd they impounded the Car which cost him a packet, plus all the aggravation etc My question is can I use trade plates to drive a car that I actually own to another (Bodyshop) premises ?? It is an older Supercharged Mercedes Car I've owned for a couple of years now, and have fully restored it, intend on keeping it because i absolutely love it, now it needs to go to a Bodyshop for final finish and paintwork. DVLA guidelines seem to state "temporary ownership" so I'm not clear on this. TIA, Cheers Dave
trade vet 703 Posted July 8, 2018 Hi Dave It would be better if you posted this on General Dealer Chat.......I may be wrong......but I think if you book the job in to your workshop first before using your plates to collect it and deliver it to your paintshop. Then bill yourself for the work etc.when it is completed.
