MattR 177 Posted March 3, 2018 I remember reading somewhere that the tax classes are going to change soon for diesel cars. I use a 53 reg fiesta diesel as a dump car, its only redeeming feature being that its road tax is £30 (rfl band C) . Anyone know whats going on with the diesel tax classes? DBDlloyds 18 Posted March 3, 2018 Hi Matt, Your car will not be affected. It is only on new cars.... please see below. Despite the tax rises, the Budget was not as draconian as many feared. Fuel duty on petrol and diesel has been frozen until at least April 2019 and the increase in road tax for diesel cars won't affect existing owners, as it only applies to the first-year tax rate for new cars.
