Adding Video to Adverts

Recommended Posts

Techie one this for someone....

So I have been taking Video presentations of my cars to add to the adverts as Standard (apparently 20 well taken photos of the car in dry conditions against a uniform background isn't enough anymore). I have been uploading the videos via an App called DUBME and then to youtube from the App. Then using the youtube link within my Dragon2000 DMS. I used to use a medium quality recording format in DUBME to give a sensible size file to upload which didn't take an age however the quality when then viewed on my website was crap really. Using a higher quality format means I'm left with the Video standard I require but something like an hour to upload to youtube.

So.... Has anyone found a decent way of taking video's on your phone and then uploading them somewhere to a high quality to generate a web link to paste into your DMS? All of this whilst using an average internet connection and not having to lose several hours of your life each week!

Incidentally the reason I use DUBME is so I can then Dub over the video I have recorded just with a silence, no dopey commentary pointing out the car has wheels, wipers and seats, no out of breath panting whilst trying to walk around car holding the camera, no doors slamming or my mate shouting out of unit next door 'how much is that shag?'

How do you manage to embed your videos into your listings?

When I try to do so, eBay complains that there is 'active content' so doesn't allow me to post it!

Thanks :)

You can't, not shore now if you can show a link.... If you are a eBay Motors Pro customer you still have the video upload.

Thanks Arf!

Do you use iMovie app to film the walkaround or just to edit/dub it? I take it you then use a fibre broadband connection to upload it? is it a high quality video you upload? Maybe it's there isn't anything wrong with anything I'm doing just need to upgrade to a Fibre Broadband connection at home to upload it in an evening?

Hi Craig, I use my iPhone to video then upload it onto the iMovie, it’s really simple and quick, you definitely need to get fibre it’ll change your life :)

If you all really feel the need to entertain the internet gazers with videos (what a load of bollocks but I suspect even I'll be doing it in a few years) then why not present the video wearing a 70's porno 'tache and overdub some seedy 70's music.

This should fit in quite well as I'm convinced about 95% of the nutters looking & emailing about cars are only doing so after finishing looking at whatever brand of filth turns them on.

BHM, If you accurately video the car prior to collection and guarantee accuracy you’ll sell them over the phone, guarantee a full refund if your wrong. Just call their bluff upfront, full refund if you’ve mis-represented. You’ll stop the morons chipping you and gain trust online. Accuracy is the key. Try it..... you’ll see

Too add, it'll save you so much time, sell on the basis of trust and accuracy. People buying bangers need a brutal advert, as you've already said...Sell yourself online to the buyer as trustworthy.... then the car, they'll buy remotely :)

Too add again, if they are not prepared to buy remotely on the basis of trusting your description, you can then question their integrity on whether they are a genuine buyer.....Make the feckers prove to YOU they won't waste YOUR time with an deposit....You are then in control :)

Can i ask why u use imovie instead of just downloading the original clip of the video from your phone to youtube? Just to put a backing track to it?

Jumbo, I have a generic “intro” explaining who I am, my business ethos and deposit and payment instructions - I also have a conclusion at the end which explains PX, payment and collection.

The actual vehicle description is shot in short separate films, it looks much more professional, for example 1. Service history, keys and docs 2. Engine bay 3. Exterior front. 4. Nearside extrrior 5. Rear 6. Offside exterior 7. Interior condition & spec. 8. How it drives and the mechanical condition.

Each video appraisal lasts between 15-20 minutes. So it has to be shot in separate films then merged together in iMovie :)
