andymc1973 199 Posted May 8, 2017 Have bought in a 2007 325 which is originally from Dublin, the clocks and odometer read in km's, what I want to try is buy a mph cluster and replace the unit, I'm pretty sure it can't be switched to read imperial on the instrument stalk, does anyone have any experience please? thanks Andrew
M.J 35 Posted May 8, 2017 You can change the digital odometer display to mph using the menu on the radio unit.

In English you'll more than likely get an Elm light on / flashing display as the live data shows mileage is different in the dash display compared with the engine ECU. Simple to fix with a diagnostic reset.
andymc1973 199 Posted May 8, 2017 so its plug in and go then reset the light? will the snap on gear do it or is it the dealer?
M.J 35 Posted May 9, 2017 No, its not a plug in job, the vin number and coding is in the original dashboard. You will need to have the new instrument cluster adapted to the vehicle, snap on can't do it.
andymc1973 199 Posted May 9, 2017 So it's bmw? Does the new cluster pick up the original miles on the car?
Cornish Guy 45 Posted May 9, 2017 Might be easier to simply switch the clock face with one from a scrapper.
andymc1973 199 Posted May 9, 2017 are they not sealed?
M.J 35 Posted May 9, 2017 Yep as mentioned easiest way is to just get the facia out of a mph set of clocks swap over. £20 quid for this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-1-3-SERIES-E90-E87-DIESEL-SPEEDO-INSTRUMENT-CLUSTER-CLOCKS-IK696147801-/122263736057?hash=item1c777c8ef9:g:H-MAAOSwImRYS-88 Take the facia out, swap it over, job done. andymc1973 199 Posted May 11, 2017 bought a set of facia dials, 55 quid from Lockwood
andymc1973 199 Posted June 1, 2017 has anyone ever fitted these? I assume the kmph ones aren't bonded? (runs off to sacrifice something to the Gods)
