metcars 397 Posted Sunday at 05:06 PM I’m looking at moving from motor trade to private insurance. Will there be ‘hassle’ getting my NCD accepted. Apparently Churchills are a possibility. Has anyone done this recently or have any info? Thanks

Apparently Churchills are a possibility. Has anyone done this recently or have any info? Thanks There will be hassle, good luck We ( our family company ) used the same insurer for many years and still do having paid them many thousands for motor trade ,buildings, pensions and also our personal home insurance. We were always named on our trade policy as being covered for business ,social and domestic use of our company cars.We never had any claims at all.So when I retired I no longer needed a company car ( and to pay Company Car Tax ) so I having been quoted ,I got covered on a private car having declared full no claims.A month or so later they contacted me threatening to cancel the cover because I had suppled false information to get a No Claims Discount. They were adamant I did not qualify and would have to start afresh. They said that I personally had not previously had a motor insurance policy in my name so could not apply a no claims discount.I tried to argue that as I was a loyal customer for many years and had paid them many thousands without any claims plus we still had several policies with them ,they should give me full no claims .They still refused. I was told that it may be possible to get full no claims accepted from another insurer who will take your money but in the event of a claim,it may not be accepted having relied on my declaration. So we now have 4 cars on the one private Comp policy which I have got down to £1500 because each car does less than 3k per year……If that is any help !
