Hi all, I've recently returned from 20 years living abroad, and wish to return to selling used cars.I was working from home 40 years ago and have been out of the trade that long.I am currently living in a small house with no drive but outside street parking.Selling from home is a no no? If i have to tax and re register very vehicle before sale thats not going to work really is it? I have seen a 100 sq metre warehouse on an industrial estate 5 minutes from home with outside parking for 4 cars.Rent 8k a year plus usuall expenses.I guess i could get at least 15 cars overall on the site.In your opinion is this a viable business model? Really appreciate any input,thanks........

Hi Guys. As a newbie I was just wondering how you guys display them. Just chuck them on the dashboard or actually change or stick over the originals? The reason I ask is my first set are on there way and i'm going to be driving back from bristol to gloucester on the M5 and wouldn't want any tickets obviously. Do they even have ANPR cameras on motorways? I'm thinking they do. Basicly what can I get away with. What do you guys do? I've never seen a set of trade plates placed over originals?? Cheers, Nick.

The DVLA should re introduce a separate Trade Plate with white letters on red background for private and general use, as was previously valid from 1923 until 1970 when it was abolished. The new road tax system now stops all the motor trade from using vehicles privately unless they register and tax in their own name, which will devalue all our one owner cars. Also it's about time the Trade Plate is re designed to cope with the current design of the motor vehicle. I am hearing lots of stories about police stopping (and fining) dealers for putting their plates under the windscreen. Lets face it not many cars have chrome bumpers anymore!!
