  1. I was up BB on monday!

I usually work out retail then work backwards to what I want to give. I use the guide prices but not for retail only trade and make sure its in the same area I want to pay.

I always chuckle at some of the characters you see down there, same faces every time. Wouldn't want to meet some of them in a dark alley that's for sure. Overheard on Monday " Oy Mick I just bid coupla pony's on a fackin' Mondeo went for too much" unreal.

RE the s type, I think a local garage called RG traders that trade out of a portakabin bought it but yet to be confirmed as rolled by earlier and couldn't see it. They have a couple s types on the lot already. Think is Cheapest nationally for a v8 s type same age and miles which are quite rare is £3500 with an older one at 3k, so maybe it is just a case of that car being worth more than cap estimates. At the end of the day a 37k Car new after 12 years with 89k miles in good condition does sound to be worth more than 1100 at trade value in any case but what do I know.

Just out of interest, where did you see the car at?

To be honest, I've no idea what that sort of stuff is worth. On the other hand, I've an idea what a bread and butter sensible mileage 2007 Focus Diesel Estate is worth that went through BB a couple of weeks ago. Well I thought I did until it made just shy of double it's cap clean money. Unbelievable Jeff!

£1600-1700 was fair in my opinion

3.0 v6 came through earlier (don't know if more or less desirable) same mileage bit older, stunk of fags and old fags lying in ashtray still, fetched a grand

we'll have to have a forum get together in the Business Centre!

Thats where I pretend to be studying the lists but really I'm just there for the free coffee and biscuits

I'm still on Silver so no business centre, gutted. Can I knock A secret pattern and you let me in? Close now though..

Interested to know if they were definitely trade or public that bought the Jag, If it was a dealer I bet he trades from his house with zero overheads, little prep cost and low margin but quick sale. Seeing more and more of these examples of silly money, way above CAP clean. Don't have a problem selling at moment but very slim pickings at auction to replace sold

100% dealer he opened oil cap put his fingers in then opened coolant and put fingers in and had dealer look about him

  2. What's the best way to "move it on" and get something reasonable back anyway? Don't the auction houses charge massive fees if your not chucking hundreds of cars through per month? Ebay auction is the only thing that springs to mind , but even then doesn't SOGA still apply or you can just say "Spares or repairs"?

  3. Got a TT s line in at the moment

it's got a small dent right on the crease line at the bottom of the drivers side door

sent pics to dent man and he said it's a body shop job (he's a bit rudimental but does simple dents)

went into the body shop i use and they only do respraying

so am I up slack alley here or ant recommendations ? Located 30 miles west of London if anyone knows a guy who knows a guy ...

    Cheers

  4. Another top tip. You can often 'negotiate' a good deal if you find a  "wheel refurb" guy when he is working at the auction. The bigger sites usually have guys there almost permanently doing paint, wheels and screen chips and I have found them to be very approachable.

I parked a hire car in Manheim Colchester and had it keyed down the side for my trouble. Took me hours to get that scratch out with a mop!:D

I don't believe that BCA bother with wheel refurb or do anything apart from clean and inspect cars as mostly everything that goes through is kerbed and or has bodywork defects

  5. Up at 8, wash an evoque, BMW 330d collected at 9, evoque collected at 9.30, the px for the evoque was a Mitsubishi asx, we had a viewing on that at 12 and it was gone by 1, test drive on the r8 at 1 but no go because of the gearbox (the r troic is crap) photograph a couple of pictures and some adverts and off at 3.

Did you get the R8 from auction out of interest?

  6. They came back against all odds!

Low balled me a bit but I wanted the sale as didn't get a single other lead.... Until the day after it sold, so typical !!

Weirdest thing is he didn't test drive it as he said he's driven fiat 500's before, didn't look at any of the paperwork or service book either!!!! Strange world we live in

Hahaha, quite clearly you haven't driven a 1.6tdi Audi a1 before otherwise you wouldn't want to swap. The bonus for us is that it's a sor vehicle.

haven't driven one but what could be so bad ? Will be nice quality inside like all audis maybe a bit cramped and sluggish with a 1.6 d but the fiat is all of those things and shoddily built and you sit high up like your in an mpv and it has all the get up and go of an elephant and the peddles are in the wrong place and the radio is crap and the speakers are crap and the exhaust is made from tin foil and rusts right through after 2 years from new and the steering is too light but apart from those minor details ITS GREAT & I WANT MORE!

  7. It wouldn't be the first time we asked " what is it you need to think about?, it's one of three things, there's something wrong with the car, something wrong with me the salesman or something wrong with the price!, so which is it?" This normally gets it out in the open!

    Like this a lot.

I was tempted to go down the lines of the essex car company from that documentary on channel 4 "What can I do to get your business today?"

Weird because they seemed really interested but when they said how much can we get off and i explained that i could only do a little bit the guy said i've got your number and hopped back in his car! Who knows if i'll see him again.
