  1. Basically I've been sat on a TT convertible for much longer than I should have now and have not had one call on it. I usually deal in Lower value cars 3-8k but this was in great nick & it had a good margin so I snatched it up. But it's taking up too much of my capital just having it sat there so I'm looking to shift it out to the trade & (hopefully) get back what it owes me. Would anyone be able to stick it on their autotrademail for me or have any other suggestions ? I don't I really want to sign up as this is the first time this has happened.

    Thanks

    Jack

  2. I have a stone chip on a piece of stock that I've touched in with colour matched paint but it looks CRAP and stands out like a sore thumb to me at least. The colour match is ok ish it's just the fact you can see the "crater" still. Any thoughts on what to do aside from binning the car down the local scrap yard ?

  3. I trade from home and think that people trust you more as they know where you live !

Your fly by nighters selling death traps will never do it from their home always from a lock up or a lay by etc. lots of peice of mind with a fixed home address

  4. I dont mind letting 99% of the customers test drive even the time wasters its part of the game.

My problem is with smelly customers that own dogs and insist on getting in the cars with dog hairs all over them leaving them in the car and an odour that will not go away when they decide not to buy it.

had two old people test drive a merc and i have no idea what it was but there was an old person smell in there for ages kind of like a care home smell

half a can of oust did the trick

  5. Spoken to a few trader mates and there seems to be 2 lines of thinking

    1) chuck them the keys asap so they fall in love with it

    2) don't take them out in it until you're sure they are going to buy it

Currently I operate somewhere in the middle but if they ask to drive quickly i'm usually too nice and just let them go and then regret it when they are like oh got to have a think then never see them again.

So how do you guys do it ?

  6. I remember you saying @Steve92.

Bet yours was TFSI too which i think would be a faster shifter as they are quite a bit cheaper on the used market and they only do 7mpg worse than the 2.0 TDI that I have.

22 days online so far and not a call/text/ "will u acept 3 grand thx kev!" Never actually had such a poor response from anything and because quite a bit of my capital is tied up in this thing I'm starting to worry especially as winter is rapidly approaching and values will go down the pan. Can't afford to hold on to it until spring at all.

  7. Average is 40-50 days for me some cars sell really quickly and others stick much longer but as long as it sells it doesn't matter.

    Thanks for your response!

I agree if it sells in the end then all is well but I asked @jimreidvehicle for a CAP report on a TT that I am struggling with and the CAP+ estimated forward valuations are FRIGHTENING that is to say they are estimating this car will be losing £500 + Per month in value every month it sits in stock.... It's probably excasserbated by the fact that it's a convertible and values drop heading into winter but i'd have thought after 3 years it would hold it's value better!

  8. Now here's an offer you don't get every day.

We have been notified from CAP Valuations that we have 782 credits (valuations) that we have to use or lose before the end of September.

So as a completely selfless act of kindness.........I'm offering you all FREE Cap valuations on any car (not commercial) email me the reg and mileage to jim@jimreidvehiclesales.co.uk and I'll come back to you as soon as I can.

Being a frugal Scot , I hate not getting full value for money, so help me help you..... fire away!

    Jim

Jim if you don't mind me asking where did you source that 15 plate S3 ?

  9. I've sat on a 09 plate BMW 330i all summer, sick of looking at it so it's priced at £13k to get it gone. Out of about 12 I've had since March its the only one I'm stuck with.

that fills me with fear, 7 months !!! Jesus !

Not had a sniff on mine yet either

On a ranty note I had a gentleman come over to drive an E class I have for sale, first issue being he reversed the c220cdi he came in into one of my sheds about 3 times then finally parked up. Then we go on a test drive after chatting for a bit, and afterwards he goes "Do you do contract hire?" I said pal do I look like I rent cars out ?! Then he goes what about contract purchase. Had to resist having a go. Could tell he wasn't going to go for it then he goes I have to go home and think about it do you want a spin in my c220cdi I said no I'll wait until you have made your mind up email today "we won't be progressing". :@ some people

  10. I think the E46 will reach a point where it is as collectible as the E36 (not sure as much as the E30) but I wouldn't say that point is just yet. It's not even been out of production for 10 years yet and wasn't a groundbreaking leap ahead of the E36 in my opinion. Having said that, after scouring the classifieds to see if I could find the one that went through BB it appears I'm on my own with that thought. There's rafts of non-CSL E46 M3's for sale over £20k so maybe there is still a good margin that car

Would you not be worried about subframe cracking on e46 m3's with it being impossible to tell without proper inspection and being a 2k ish job ?

  11. Our TT finally went this weekend, we had 3 viewings in total, 1 didn't even drive it because they didn't like the colour. It actually drove really well, full Audi history with Audi cambelt and waterpump, 4 new conti's new pagid discs and pads all round in the last 500 miles .... It was a really nice car.

How long were you sat on it for Steve?

  12. I buy convertibles all year round and sell them all year round :) !

  13. Currently driving about in a w212 e class and admittidley for some reason the dipped lights aren't amazing but my god I was driving late at night down an unlit section of road and at the last minute I saw a man walking on the edge of the road with no lights or anything, and there was a pavement which he could have been on. Talk about asking for it. Gave him a long blast of my two tone horn to try and cement in his head that it's not clever.
