Cazwhooever will never get those customers.

Obviously not because they do not get to see anybody in person for any great length of time.

But they probably will get repeat customers who prefer to order a car from their sofa and have a general dislike or distrust of dealers.

You are otherwise comparing apples and oranges. They both have positives and negatives. This coming from somebody who will always want to see and drive a car before buying.

Also, what Cazoo and Cinch BCA don’t understand is that there is still a high per cent of punters who when buying their next used car, stay loyal to one dealer, get servicing done and see the same guy who looks after them. These sensible people can’t be bothered with apps, pass words, automated phone systems, far away call centres, security questions, texted back messages etc.when contacting their garage.

Given any opportunity I am making sure people get to know about the downside when buying from the online only operators.

Are those people that common? OR sensible?

I just still can’t get my head around it. Maybe up to 18 months old cars yes.  But anything older than that?  Over the years the amount of times I think a car is perfect and the customer comes down and tears it apart how do you deal with those people when you are just delivering a car?
Who is dealing with the buy backs and the issues of repairing a broken car in the 1st 6 months? How do they allow for miss described part exchanges?

I also still don’t think when the dealerships open back up and customers can go and have drives that it will stand up to a hungry sales person with a family and a mortgage to feed.

I may be completely wrong but I’ve worked in main dealers long enough saying that internet sales will take over and they never have.

It would not surprise me if this is one of the reason people buy online. Browsing at leisure without feeling pressurised that they have to buy by aforementioned hungry sales person.

Fucktards the lot of them, I will absolutely not do business with anyone who doesn't phone me on the business landline during business hours, or call in to my premises (when allowed) !!

No answerphone messages, no texts no "witheld numbers" etc etc, I have always been of the opinion that anyone who seriously wants to buy a vehicle or get repair work done will ring back ..................

Those that don't, well, IMHO they are gonna be a PITA toss pot any way ;)

Has worked well for me over the last 40 years I see no reason to change that now, ;) , in fact even when an odd few do call me or visit, after I've spoken with them, if they give off a certain vibe then I often politely decline a repair or tell them a Vehicle I have is not right for them ;)

Does that make me a Dinosaur in modern "Facefuck" times ?

Very likely ;) ............... But a happy stress free Dinosaur most of the time ;)

You will not return a call to somebody who leaves a voice message on your phone system? Begs the question why even have an answerphone?

Whether businesses survive will be partially down to the owner/managers attitude to risk. Fortune favours the brave?

To some extent yes I agree.

But bear in mind government have put out a lot of guidance for businesses to adhere to. I am unsure of the legal complexities but potentially they could face sanctions for not adhering to government guidance. Thing I dont believe there has been a legal precident against companies not following it, so nobody really knows what could happen.

Crossing the line maybe yet you still didn’t deny it so therefore I stand by my statement

I would prefer this incident not to escalate to a matter akin to Hayden vs Scottow. As such I offer you the opportunity to retract your comments above, and also your comment of March 24th. Unless you have been sitting behind a reliable VPN you might be wise to swallow your pride and take said opportunity.

Why not go onto the Chinese takeaway owners forum and work out the best time to buy your chicken fried rice? Or better yet go play chicken on the motorway, you are not a car dealer so you have no place here plus you come across as a nonce so I think you should be removed -_-

Why not ignore me or enter into constructive conversation. Or do you just tend to resort to insults and name calling when the debate has exceeded your cerebral capacity?

Cretin and alike I dont care. But calling people nonces is crossing the line and I feel that you are the one who needs removing. There really is no need for those kind of remarks.

     Chineses takeway forum LOL :D

He's waiting for the prices to go UP , he's on our side Mark

I've just put two UP £800 last night and got a customer coming tomorrow on one of them , just passed finance prop at the higher price  and the deals set for 1pm Friday  .

This guys waits for November to strike a deal hes going to be handing over more cash to some lucky dealer  for a better deal

Your not good at this are you  Better change your name to " Nevergoingtobeadealer "

There's a shortage of good stock my friend , that means only one thing , supply shortage and prices don't go down .

Like rice at Chinese takeaways that MarkTVS is  on about , Rice Shortage and price goes UP not down .

Your not going to change the thoughts of the guys on here with ramblings about price crashes and future discussions about what happens after your down turn predictions  , better not try being a car dealer though as your not really in the correct thought patterns , or make decisions quick enough either .

Keep doing your day job , not time for a career move just yet .

You do make me laugh though over my coffee . so thanks for that .

Yeah absolutely its possible that prices keep rising.

I have made a best guess hypothesis. I personally cannot see the current demand being sustained when the bounceback loan application deadline passes on November 4th, and the government stops paying furlough to 1 in 12 workers at the end of October. Many people, though not all, have had greater disposable income as a result of being paid but not having to actually work. Coupled with fewer people going abroad and shopping etc. Over the last decade at least the general attitude of the average Joe public in Britain has tended to be that they spend everything they get paid, live pay cheque to pay cheque and to hell with any sort of contingency.

As I say you might be right and prices go up and up, but I just cannot see a rationale for that happening in light of the above. A smart dealer might not agree with the above but will develop a contingency in case it happens. The more obtuse dealers might well struggle. You can probably work out which dealer I will be buying from if my theory plays out.

Some would buy now I am biding my time. Pays your money takes your chance and all that.

What’s wrong is it normally points to a moron. In my case, buyer points out car needs a cambelt, I offered to do it, and never heard from him again. Don’t know why, but people interested in cambelts don’t very often buy.

ok thanks for the clarificaiton. Perhaps they wanted to knock something silly off the price and when you offered to do the job that avenue was no longer open, so they vanished into the night.

What knowledge do you have that has empowered you?

Current market strength in the dealer trade. I imagine when demand starts to drop it will be discussed at length on here. Looking at prices on autotrader is one thing but hearing it straight from the workers is more useful.

Why are you still even here you cretin? You bored of spouting covid crap already?

Is that your sharpest retort? Its pitiful.

I am waiting for the prices to drop so I can make my move on a nearly new veee-hicle. Anticipating it will be November after Furlough has finally ended. Knowledge is power......Cretin.

Anyhow I dont think discussion about an illness thats contributed to 800,000 worldwide deaths can be referred to as 'crap'....Well, unless you are a cretin

Given that nobody has answered the question. Dare I suggest you dont want to answer the 'cambelt' question because the truthful answer is......'The buyer has correctly pointed out something on the car that needs doing, and I dont want to admit it'?

For gods sake grow a set of nuts , go see the car , buy the bloody thing if you like it and stop asking stupid questions online .

    Go see it , simples

Do you prefer badgers or twix bars?

  11. Found a car online and the price is £6300 on the advert but in the car window the price is £6500. Turns out most of their other stock has the similar price discrepancy.  I would guess so the dealer can claim it should be £6500 but then agree to "honour" the online price, and use that to get out of any further price reduction. Would that be about right?

Well I suppose the one I have to say was years ago when I first started trading and it was more of a part time hobby, I bought a an ultra blue Corsa C SXI, was a nice low mileage thing had only done 50k Miles, it got delivered off the transporter and then a couple of minutes later a guy comes in asking if it’s for sale as he was looking for a car for his daughter. He wanted a deal and was happy to take it as was so done literally nothing to it and his daughter came in to collect the car. And had it not been for covid 19 I would be getting married next month and the man would be my father in law

Fair play thats a cracking story that.

Trading Standards employee or just the usual self appointed do-gooder with too much time on your hands?

The second one. Any punter with half a braincell must realise that would not stick. Besides, its a buyers market so why go to a seller demanding £100 just for an appointment?

  14. 2 hours ago, MarkTVS said:

You can imagine the quality of customer from cf247, coming up with a fault after a few days then going off on one as workshops are shut so hard to get parts. I hate cf247 and the majority of their council scheme scumbag punters,

On a more positive note we managed a sale today. The way we are doing it is by appointment only. In order to get an appointment you have to pay £100 (inspired by the late great ad) which is refundable if you don’t like the car aslong as you show up when your meant to.

Only the person buying the car is allowed on our premises. We simply hand them the keys and leave them to it. If they want a test drive as it can’t be accompanied they forfeit the return of their £100 whether the buy it or not and they can take it round the block aslong as they leave the keys for their car and ID on the desk.

So one sold and a decent cheap swapper for £300, will keep the wolves away from the door aslong as we can still manage one every fortnight or so.

Good luck getting away with that.

None car dealer joins car dealer forum to spout a load of wank juice and scaremongering.

I don't speak for the forum but as far as I'm concerned it's not welcome.

On March 14th UK had 1,140 cases and 21 deaths. 10 days later and we have 8,077 cases and sadly 422 deaths. The ExCeL centre in London is being converted into a field hospital with plans for 4,000 patients inside.

Is this still "wank juice and scaremongering"?

How many cases will it take for you to understand this is serious shit?
