Anyway, I took this heap of shit in as a chopper against a nice 2012 ML, so here's what happens .............
More often than not it starts fine from cold, but when warmed up a little put key in slot, and a lot of the time up comes this wonderful little yellow Steering Wheel Locked Icon picture and it won't crank or start ....
My up to date Snap On reveals no fault codes that could be even remotely related and no low voltage codes.
Dont ask about the INPA / ISTA / EDIABAS / WINKFP / WANK / USELESS PIECE OF SHIT Diag Machine that I already spent way too much time and money on and have yet to get it to connect with any fuckin BMW pile of shit
Some say Battery, but it doesn't look that old .............
Some say Reset a Counter in the CAS (key useage start counter) IDFK, Some say there is a s/w update for the CAS or replacement Module, (TSB ID: 61 28 06), some say needs a new Column and Steering Lock which all comes as one assembly and is well over £1k, ...............................
Many others say it's the Stig .................. I just call it a cnut
Seriously shall I just give the fuckin thing to the Scrappy Doo Pikey next time he's about, it isn't exactly the nicest Car anyway, been driven by the usual "Ultimate Driving Machine" Wanker, and I don't think "maintenance and repair" was in his vocabulary
Anybody got a sensible answer aside from Scrappy Doo or a galleon of unleaded and a match
EDIT:-
I just got into CAS Module with Snap On and it is now posting Code "A116 ESL Critical Status"
Is this the reset counter issue, if so anyone know if Snap On can do that ???
TIA
Ista D is my go to for BMW’s
it works wonders and tells you a lot more than snap on
what cable are you using and have you changed your connection settings?

Secondly, what year/model is the car? I'm not too familiar with the latest stuff but I know the earlier stuff should still bring up your ignition without coding in the new BCM, it just wont crank.
Hahahah to be honest I’ve had one previously stolen recovered and brought a cat B, took everything out of the cat B and put it in the straight one- no cat Bs available right now lol
it’s a 2017 5.0 supercharged
Any clue what module if any would stop power to the car?

Hi there guys was just wondering if any JLR specialists could help me with this one
we’ve got a car come into us that’s been written off due to lads taking it on a protected beach and getting stuck in the sand and then causing water damage
now the car has no ignition so I was wondering is there a way to connect a Doip to pathfinder and forcing ignition on or allow fault code reading.
We’ve brought a new bcm and now we just need to program it in somehow with no ignition -
On 8/18/2020 at 3:34 PM, It's me said:dont apply for log book whatever you do
i have been waiting between 4 months and as little as 7 weeks for in trade green slip only log books
dont go there
or cry
Why not send it to the critical worker department
I got 4 accepted processed, sent out and received all within a week which I was shocked on considering I sent one back Back in March with no reply

There was this site called car.kiev.info but I believe they’re in a lawsuit with bmw but there’s loads out there
just type in Bmw vin decoder on google

Thanks mate but after I bled the brakes it fixed the problem
well it has so far....

1 hour ago, Dave2302 said:I doubt the Fuel Cap is the cause of the EPB issue.
The reason I specifically asked if it was read on decent Dealer Level kit is that age old statement "there's only one / very few codes" that I hear on a daily basis.
This is because on an issue like this one the run of the mill Snap On, Delphi etc will not see all the Codes, the cheap OBD stuff is actually worse than useless too, only Dealer Level machines will see and do all.
This issue could be an awful lot of things, including some speed sensors, brake light switch etc etc, and as we all know just chucking bits at it is almost never a cost effective way of repairing it
Yeah we use the doip VCI great bit of kit
im going to go and try a brake bleed again now that the epb is calibrated and see if that does anything

57 minutes ago, Dave2302 said:Any Codes on JLR IDS machine ?
Can’t remember the code exactly but there is one for the fuel filler cap having a short circuit due to it being broken
but that can’t possibly engage epb can it?

Hi there lads,
Was wondering if someone who was clued up on RANGE ROVERS/JAGUARS
I've got a Range Rover Sport L494 P400E thats come in to us for the parking brake randomly engaging when pulling out at a junction or setting off from a traffic light, it will engage and then disengage quickly causing a jolt
ive used Pathfinder to do a EPB Calibration and I thought that fixed it but the customer has come back to say the problem is still there
anyone come across this before

Yeah mate I’ll go to garage tomorrow and have a look on my laptop
but one thing you need to do is write oldest service first and then the new one, so if it’s only had one previous service done before you’ll be alright but if it has a few services you’ll have to wipe them and then put in the services from oldest to newest (5 minute job)

You’d think that with COVID 19 and businesses not operating at full capacity the risk would be Lower for claims so it would be cheaper but alas it’s not
tbh mate they were one of my options but wanted pictures of the inside of my premisesby that time I already had something sorted with premier but kudos to them for still delivering big thanks to especially Declan and josh too

To write service history to the idrive isn’t hard at all tbh
all you need is a £10 Enet cable and the ability to convert from KM to miles
only downside is when it goes in for a software update it gets deleted
-
Update: renewing through Premier insurance in Winsford, big thumbs up to Declan & Josh that sorted everything out for me. Would recommend these lot if you’re looking for a decent quote
p.s they did better the renewal price I was originally quoted

Can you not use another rep from uk global then Ashley is not directly dealing with his previous customers did you find premier ok to deal with .
Wasn’t given the option when I called up but I’ll give global a bell tomorrow.
Premier were decent as a broker, they always did manage to get me a good price even on a personal policy on one of my high value cars, whilst they ask other insurers I’m just looking around and see if anyone can beat the current quote- 1

Just now, Row said:Ashley at uk global as mentioned above has just worked hard for me and got me 3.6k with no no claims due to a recent incident, I can highly recommend trying him, if you do try him mention my name (Rowland) please.
Ashley was my first choice after premier but because he’s the one who got me my policy last year and he’s only moved to UK global in the last 6 months I can’t use him (as he can’t speak to his previous clients for 12 months). He is very good at what he does though
im trying to find a way I can use him though

1 hour ago, Casper said:Ive used Think insurance never had problems I've always got an ok service but some here say they haven't @Ashley@UKGlobal or @John Cook - Aston Lark Are both helpful too ive spoke to both with insurance related question and will use them for business insurances in the near future
Just waiting on a quote from Aston Lark and I can’t use Ashley as I was one of his customers at Premier but I definitely do recommend him
is there anyone else you guys would recommend
just got off the phone with towergate so waiting on a quote with them too
think insurance have quoted me 3k+ than my current insurance is so that’s a no no

Just has a look over the policy and he’s put down the wage roll £0 so I don’t think it’ll be an issue

When I am doing errands I like to have mates in the car so it isn’t as boring, not trying to use a motor trade policy on SDP as I have taken out a separate policy
